I'm told this is a '24 Maybach. No zeppelin found yet, so this will have to do for now.

Help. Somebody correct me. I think maybe Maybach made those MONSTER engines on the Graf Zeppelin (which preceded the Hindenburg). I'll have to dig, too.

I may have seen too many Cheech & Chong
movies, but seems this ad is begging for the
PhotoShop mistreatment. (Please do it on
    some OTHER site, folks! LOL)

Spectacular photo-op from the great site, Shorpy, of the Graf Zeppelin
    over-flying the U.S. Capitol, October 1928. (If there's any photo-and-
gab lover who hasn't joined Shorpy, it's free and easy to join.)

Here's some updated history on the Joe Brown Duesenburg per Chris Summers, Duesenberg Historian,

    Jim,

Everything seems accurate, although I don't know one way or another about it being delivered new with disc wheels. All photos I've seen of it show wires and it currently does have wires.

At some point in the 1940s the car's body was removed and destroyed; it's always been said that Hughes had it removed so that the chassis could be used to tow gliders aloft but that has never been proved and no photos of the car in its "glider-towing" form survive. Harry Andrews built a reproduction of the original body and that is what it is on the chassis. People always forget that it's a rebody because the workmanship is just that good, more or less identical to how the car was delivered new.

O'Quinn bought it at the McMullen auction and last I heard there was a private deal in the works to buy it from the estate. I don't know if anything happened with that or not.

    Chris

Serious looks from the owners of these T's in Iowa.

Genuine color Autochrome from 1917 showing French soldiers
and their truck (Renault?) near the front. THIS is the photo I
mentioned a few days ago, and I just turned it back up! Auto-
chrome was a genuine color process, invented in France. It
apparently involved three separete glass photographic plates,
but I know nothing of the cameras used. This must have been
quite a slow process, as the Autochrome shots we see are mostly
of still-lifes or pretty static compositions. (Note the controlled
elements in the above shot.) Apparently Autochrome was not
much used after the WWI era.

Good try, NO cigar! October 1910, engine failure quashes an early
transatlantic flight attempt by Walt Wellman and crew. They did make
it nearly 1,400 miles but had to abandon ship near Bermuda and were
picked up by ship's crew of the Trent. The airship drifted out of sight
    . . . and into history!

The old and modified T might not be much to look at, but if we can believe what is written, it is quite a tale. The date is 1913, and the car had 76,540 miles on it. What year is the T, and what does that work out to for miles driven per year? Check the phone number(s) on the door - looks like back then the phone company made frequent changes. I like the NH fire insurance sign too.

Twin6 The modified Model T looks like a 1909 to me based on the knotch in the hood former and small diameter outer wheel hub flanges.
