I worked with and watched and learned from Bob starting back in 1969. You still got it my friend!! Steve
Steve, it is unbelievable that it has been so many years since we had the factory but it is good to hear from old friends again. I have fond memories of you and your dad.
Jeff, I don't have many photos as I don't do that much striping anymore. I did a welding helmet also and I can get a shot of it. I also tried to get a shot of the top of the pickup bed on the bobber truck, but the reflection of the overhead light outshined the striping. I will try to get it outside and get another shot soon.
I agree! I sent him a message saying that, from him, it is a high compliment, and I am appreciative. Jeff Norwell is a great artist. I did a bunch more striping on the same truck and I will post it tonight.
Nice work. That's a skill I would like to learn, I got as far as buying a few brushes and some oneshot but never find time to practice. Do you work straight in the paint or do you draw it out first?. I understand what you mean when you say you decided it was a lousy way to make money, people admire hand skills but don't want to pay for them, I have the same trouble. (I make panels and bodies by hand)
Looking good. I really like the fine line work. I see too many stripers that just lay the lines too thick for my taste.
Mindover, I always layout the general center and then let it rip. I also design patterns in Adobe Illustrator on the computer and print them out on an old vinyl machine my son-in-law gave me and will use these as layouts. I started the Bobber truck with a pattern to gain the center and then did everything else freehand. Thanks again everyone for the compliments. Bob
I really like your work, but I guess if you can't come out to Central Ca, I will have to look up Craig Judd, will he be ok you think ??
MAN you still got it and since you are retired can i have some pleeeease. i bought some brushes and some one shot and i can come up with designes in my head but for some reason i cant get my hand to co-operate i try to srripe as often as i can and sometimes i think i am making progress then the next line turns to ****.i reely appreciate how much skill you reely have awsome work
As them East Coast guys say "Wicked pissa!" Think n thin with extreme balance...... ultra talent my friend.....
Those are some great lines man. I've got a 55 effie that's dying for stripes. I'd help fund your return from retirement.
