Straight to the point, what do you guys think of morphing a 32 fordor into a sedan delivery? While a tudor is the ideal choice for the snip, they are rarer than rocking horse droppings in NZ so having a fordor tucked away may be my only option. Interested in your thoughts and feedback.Cheers, Chris.
I have a Vicky I built from a 4 door cowl and a pair of doors for a Tudor, I'd think a delivery from a complte 4 dr would be very doable!
cant wait to see it get them pics happening 32 sedans are nice but delivery rocks i hope to build a aussie style van myself from sum junk i have over here in tas
Do you plan on making the front doors longer?,,from what I remember the sedan delivery is based on a 2 door sedan. HRP
x2 The only way I see making one work is if you made it look like a 33 sedan delivery. I don't think I've seen one done that way before, so it might actually look cool. You'd need to weld up the rear doors, remove the C pillar, and make an longer insert panel. I would also step up and buy one of Kemp's Rod & Restoration sedan delivery kits. http://www.exploringthenorth.com/kemp/delivery/steel.html
Check the Beer Truck thread (page 2)here on the HAMB, there is a photo of Fordor/Sedan Deliveries from back in the day. I'd study things very cloesly before hacking into a Fordor.
Is it an Australian bodied '32? If so this '34 was built from a Australian '34 4 door. the rear doors and back panels are the same as the '32 Fordor.
A 4 door sedan delivery with opening rear doors may not be without precedent. Ford ***embled some oddball stuff special order, especially for fleets. If it could be ***embled from existing parts, and a customer wanted a fleet like that, Henry would build it to the customer's specs.
Plan to use tudor doors, shift b pillar back, remove rear p***enger doors (or use as side panels) and install a Doug McRae sedan delivery kit as per latest TRJ. Leave all original running gear in and maybe a flatty or hop up the old B4. Leave original paint etc with some faded speed shop signage maybe. Not that simple I know and frought with peril if not done right. But done right will look real cool on some old wires.
I had a '34 sedan delivery back in the 70's, and the best I can remember, the doors were the same as the 4 door sedans. I'm not sure after all of these years, but I'd check before I spent a lot of time and money looking for 2 door doors.
I'm think Poteet's 32 delivery started off as a Tudor, but may give you some ideas. There were a bunch of pictures of it on Fastlane's website. I vote to cut!
I would run it as a Fordor. 30's and even early 40's moredoors are just as cool as the two doors. I plan to build a fordor '32 for my next go.
I still think it would be easier to keep the fordor front doors, stock B pillar location, weld in the rear doors, cut out the C pillar, and modify the sedan delivery wood kit to fit. By using tudor doors and moving the B pillar all your doing trying to turn a fordor into a tudor and then into a sedan delivery, that to me seems like a ton of work.
Ton of work yes, but fordor doors are too short and the thing will look like a homemade orphan rather than what he really wants. I say if you're going to do it, go the whole way.
I like the fordor doors. Google images is better than carnut as carnut really likes 3/4 shots but Google tends to wander so you can see difference in '32 and '34. You could use Doug's rear door kit but floor kit may be too short.
