I like that truck forty1, very nice, looks like a lot of work went into it,
I feel bad for ya, what frame was under it, stock or ?
The pic in my avatar is one of mine, keeping it stock,
I have another one getting a s10 frame, it's too far gone for restoration.

The stance on my truck comes from the chassis being a late model. By late I mean mid 60s Chevy c10. Ifs and a three link rear with track bar made it easy. Bought a set of 4 coils and swapping them took less than 2 hours.

The chassis wasn't my doing originally. When I bought the truck it was already done. Took some work to make it right. Had to Fab the cab mounts and weld them on. I'm sure there are other chassis that work better but this one works fine. Only complaint is how wide the front end is. Tires rub on hard turns. Guess I need a deeper offset on the wheels....

You can't delete anyone else's post I'm pretty sure,, only you're own.
forty1, you're part of the family here on the HAMB,
so know that you will be thot of, its good to share too,
you're right we all have our own health concerns, I have mine too..
Our hobbies keep us going sometimes I think, and old cars and trucks are to me
some of the best medicine. I kind of fell into this 41-46 chevy truck project,
my neighbor had this pile of parts and told me it was a an old ford, but, I saw
a bowtie and when he said 250$, the deal was done. I got an old frame, a cab, a bed shell,
a bunch of other odds and ends and a grill. That grill is what allowed me to id the truck.
Since that first purchase, I subsequently bought another two trucks, one has a nice body and frame, and another parts truck. THen one day I was on the craig list and a guy was trying to sell a 1.5 ton, but he called it a 36. No takers @400, he then offered to give it
away. I called but was the 2nd caller, but the first one flaked and so I was given a 46 1.5 ton. It's all original, but rough. I use it to see how everything goes together,, lol.
THis one that we're building now is hopefully going to be @ Eagle Field next year.
I love spending time with my son, he is a very talented welder and fabricator. I wish we had better tools, but we make do. I posted some of our project tonite in a later post.
    Hope you enjoy the pics.

Ok, my son and I got a little done last night,, kinda like putzing around, or just mocking things up, having fun. We're building a hot rod truck together,, guess I'll build the stock one later. Here's some pics of the shenanigans that went on earlier tonite...

  17. Justin, click onto my screen name and look at the albums I've posted for pictures of the builds. There are pictures of the Isuzu frames I've used. Mounts I've built and description of what I went thru. The blue/rusty short truck I built in 93 days, using a 91 Isuzu pickup for a donor. A small block Chevy fits between the frame rails real easy. I'm still using the Isuzu drive shaft and rear end. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. ,

  18. finally putting some pictures up of my crusty cruiser 41 Chevy

I like it ONE CRUSTY ONE,,

  20. ok, you asked for some build pictures of my 41's on Isuzu chassis. The blue / rusty truck sits on a 91 Isuzu pickup frame. I built simple motor mounts using parts I salvaged off the 4 cylinder motor. The 350 Chevy fits great between the frame rails without clearance problems. I used a TH350 transmission and the stock Isuzu driveshaft modified with a Chevy yoke up front. We also used the power brake unit, steering column and swinging pedals out of the donor pickup. Cab mounts were made from 2 1/2" square tubing with welded flat plates on top and welded inside the frame rails. We then bolted the cab down using the orginal holes Chevy used. The truck took 93 days to build.

Love these trucks. Anyone seen one with a steak bed? There was one rusting away in my area when I was a kid that I fell in love with. Wish it was still there.

  27. To answer your question, I used a small 15 gallon boat tank, mounted behind the rear end housing. The tank was a free, it fit, and was perfect for this project.

HF beadroller, second project. Door is off tool cabinet, truck measures 14" x 7".
I'm still trying to 'feel' the gauge pressure. Step die, bead die used

Next up is tossing the hand crank for an aluminum boat wheel,
    UPDATE: 3-15-11: Boat wheel- check,
Fender washer die & swivel dolly wheel- check,
    additional refinements to original project...
