Who can tell us what this big 6 cyl. is??? It has the appearance of an aero engine Brooklands special on a Mercedes chassis.

It is a replica of the Land Speed Record "Blitzen Benz" driven at Brooklands racing track. It was built a couple of years ago in the UK around an original Zeppelin aero engine and some other bits.

It is a re-creation of the Blitzen Benz raced by Cupid Hornsted and was, I believe, built by Ben Collings. The body was made by Roach Manufacturing, who may also have made the chassis. The engine is a Benz BZ-4 of 18.8 litres (1128 cubic inches) developing 200hp, of the type fitted to the Albatross, among others, in WW1.

Definitely the divine Kay! The car is the V12 Delage which she drove on the Outer Circuit at Brooklands, becoming the first woman to gain a 130mph badge. Another blog about her:

Nice photos of the Ballot Grahame. I haven't seen these before.

If you ever come across any pics showing the spare tyre in place please post it.

I think they may be related to the Chalmers - Detriot photos that turned up there. Some of the cars share many of the same features.

The37kid ID'ed this as the Chalmers Bluebird. Looks to be the same car as above except for an added header.

Thanks TH, great find. Champ Car Stats lists it as

It seems I'm not only one confused about these early Ford racers, I don't recall ever seeing a picture identified as 999's shadowed sibling  The Comet and Baby Limited seem to have been well matched and that appears to be Charles Soules in his Pope between them...
