    Ocean56, if the car can be made a custom, it could have been restored to original.
    Missing here is a nice Hollywood Graham build by Caywoodie Auto Body in Tulsa (on 11th street between Memeorial and Sheridan, now closed and the boys retired) They built it in the '90's, kind of a Cranberry color if I remember. SBC, of course (yawn).
    Also, Glen Prey of Broken Arrow, Ok, owns the rights to the Cord Company, has a place right off Elm south of 71st where he has some cars, an awsome little personal museum, etc. Don't know if Glen's still around, I've been gone from there a few years, but he has two grown kids that are probably still at it. Easy to find his place, right at the R/R tracks on Elm, on the right when you're headed south. Theres a C-45 (Navy Beech 18) in Swiss markings sitting outside the building.

    From the February 1962 ACD Newsletter;

    HERE'S THAT ELUSIVE CORD AMBULANCE

    From Lloyd Mcwilliams of Lancaster Ohio comes the following story concerning the Cord Ambulance which we have mentioned several times in past issues. Thanks very much Lloyd for your diligent information in tracking down this interesting information.

    In recent issues, you have inquired about a Cord Ambulance in Athens, Ohio. I made a trip to Athens to get all the information I could on the car, and here is what I managed to find out.

    This car was originally an 810 sedan and was purchased by a Mr. Jagers who is still in business with his two sons as a funeral director in Athens. He bought it new from a dealer in Columbus in 1937. It was sent directly to Lima, Ohio where the two rear doors were leaded shut and a three foot door made to fit in the middle, and which in turn lengthened the whole car 3 feet. He used the ambulance from 1937 to 1949. After 1949, it was used as a flower car and sometimes a family car.

    I saw the ad in Road and Track magazine and went to see the car in Feb. 1955 and drove it at that time. Mr Jagers told me the car had over 100,000 miles on it when he sold it to a lumber dealer in Missouri. He could not recall the man's name nor the town he was from.

    Anyone have a copy of the Road and track magazine with the ad for the Cord Ambulance in it????

    I may have pictures of the Graham you mention that I will post later. As far as Glenn Pray, he is still alive at 85 but not in the best health. Any one that wants to really learn about Glen Pray should get the the book;

    GLENN PRAY: THE UNTOLD STORIES , AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY BY GLENN PRAY AS TOLD TO CYNDIE WARNER-GARDNER.

    Are Cord parts worth anything? A friend has a transmission, I think, and some other running gear parts. Shipping might be a touch expensive from the UK, but if they're hard to come by it may be worth it to someone?

    The Antique Automobile Club has an Auburn/Cord forum you might want to have your friend post his Cord parts there if he really wants to find out if they are valuable/desirable. Link here: http://forums.aaca.org/f156/

    The following photographs were sent to me several years ago by the late Lou Brehmer of Phoenix, Arizona. Lou had lived in Chicago in his earlier years. Lou took these photos in Chicago in 1948.

    Whether they were all on the same used car lot or not, I'm not sure but on the back of one of the pictures of the Blue Cord with the '40 Ford Headlights (a not uncommon modification for the times) was written the following; Neidlingers Brothers Garage, 71st and Stoney Island Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, August 1948, Price: $750.00.

    The picture with the sunroof was of the most interest to me as were pretty positive that it is the 1937 Custom Beverly, my late father purchased in May of 1962 for the sum of $50.00 and I now own unrestored.

    This particular Cord was purchased new from the Merrill Madsen Cord Dealership in Minneapolis, Minnesota by Chicago Band Leader, Lou Breese (real name Luigi Calabrese) who lived in Minneapolis for 12 years.

    I would love to find more information on these photographs, especially would like to find some photographs of Lou Breese with the sunroof cord or any other Photographs of this car that may exist.

    Any of you Chicago Area people know anyone named Calabrese that might be a distant relative of Lou??????)

    I did locate the granddaughter of the original owner, Lou Breese but haven't had a chance to go visit her as yet.

    At this point, my Cord will stay original due to it's rarity.

    This is what it looked like when Dad dragged it home in May of 1962. It was supposed to be destroyed the next day. I can remember throwing the beer cans and other assorted junk out the sunroof. An old friend claims he may have slides of the car as found but I am still trying to get them out of them.

    We had heard for years about another Cord with a sunroof half in and half out of a garage with a blanket over the front on Long Island Sound that had been owned by the same person for many years. Finally, the person that first saw it on his paper route when he was twelve was able to purchase it and I took the pictures here in Auburn in 2005. Then he went and sold it at Hershey to some one in Spain and that's all I know. I do not know who the current owner is but would like to find him. These are the only two known Cords with Rollston installed sunroofs.

    I saw the sunroof Cord at Hershey - very neat but needed a lot of work!

    Glenn Prey is still with us but his health is not as great as it once was. My dad and I flew out to Broken Arrow last spring for the annual Glenn Prey festival. You were allowed to prowl the factory with flashlights. We spent 2 hours at the UPS store packing all the stuff we sent home.

    The 8/10 (basically a 4/5 sized 810) Cord that Glenn Pray built stands on it's own as a unique car. He only built 100 or so using many original Cord parts from his factory inventory. The bodies were composite constructed of Royalite which is very popular now for making canoes.

    Jim, is this a leather car since it has the sun roof? Did you ever get in contact with Rudy Creteur of Rollston? He may still have the original design and paperwork for your car. Would be great to get that.

    I'm still going through all the Cord stuff Dad left me. I don't recall ever hearing that the car had a leather interior but I imagine it would be correct being a Custom Beverly and having the sunroof. Lou Breese wanted the sunroof so he could wave to all his fans through it.

    Lou was a big baseball fan and actually wanted to be a baseball player but his father was not too hep on that. My Dad's stepmother who just turned 96 remembers seeing the car by Nicollet Park in Minneapolis where the Mpls. Millers played from 1896 to 1955.

    I did try Rudy once but his answering machine was full. I need to do that again.

    Another picture of this one that I found on the AACA website. Looks like they moved it since I was there in 2004.

    Nothing so far about the Cord '815 SE' replica the SE standing for South Eastern I believe, of which eight were built in 1981. They were built by South Eastern Replicars Inc. of Largo FL and retailed then for $65,000!!! I saw one a couple of months ago - powered by an Olds 350 FWD and pretty accurate apart from the ripply fiberglass bodywork and 'tool box' hood latches. Oh yes - and the cheesy two pedal pads welded to a piece of bar stock to 'simulate' a three pedal setup....

    This Graham has been sold a few times but was once owned by Sally Rand (striper) and Eddie Murphy. Nice looking car, built in Wa. I believe. Sold at Barrett-Jackson for 74G's and was for sale after that. i don't know where it is now but last I heard it was in N.Y..

    Here's a neat vintage postcard from a Hupmobile Skylark Dealer circa 1940.
