I love this thread. All the pictures. I am a history buff along with being a gear head. Love trains, plains, autos, military, the ladies the happy and the sad pics. They all tell a story. If I could ever figure out how to post I have some old family car pics going back to the 20's. Thanks to ALL the posters. keep them coming and don't change a thing.

The P-61 was not a bomber, it was designed from conception to execution as an all weather night/Intrusion fighter. It never had any provision for carrying ordinance. Without doubt my favorite non Australian built aircraft.

“Ford Mustang” is synonymous with front-engine, rear-drive coupes. But the car originally had a mid-mounted four cylinder. The Ford Mustang I concept was designed and built in 1962 as part of Lee Iacocca‘s initiative to create a radical to compete with the successful Chevrolet Corvair Monza coupe. The team, which included designer John Najjar, engineer Roy Lunn, and designer Gene Bordinat, completed the fully functional concept car in just 100 days. The Mustang I had a steel tube chassis with an all-aluminum body riveted to it for maximum rigidity. It also had fully independent suspension, disc brakes, and a mid-mounted Ford Cardinal 1500cc 60-degree V4 engine good for about 109 horsepower. The car was feather light, wickedly fast, and drop-dead gorgeous. Unfortunately, Ford never put the car into production citing prohibitive production costs. But I can’t be too hard on Ford, considering the Mustang it did produce (and produces today) is kick ass. And, yeah, there’s the original GT40. And the GT. And the SHO. And the Focus RS. Still, who wouldn’t love a lightweight mid-engine sports car wearing the Blue Oval?

It still wasn't designated as a bomber, it was designed as a night fighter/interceptor as Doc stated. Every US fighter in WWII could carry external bombs.

Pigeon Hole Parking came to Portland with the wave of parking-lot mania that swept the city in the 1950s. This one, at SW Stark and Park, lasted until the mid-60s when it was moved two blocks south to SW 9th and Alder. Like many of these parking systems, it was plagued by bad electrics that would strand cars until repairs could be made. The Stark and Park site is still a surface parking lot.

Snow treads. Anyone remember the "sawdust" snow treads. It had sawdust in the rubber. Very soft and no more than 2 winters. Dad had'm on the '53 Chev. Maybe even on the '57 Pontiac.

  30. This is how I do it.

You have Photobucket? It's free, upload the photos you want from your files to Photobucket. You can resize them and a few other things.

When you go to post the photo, copy and paste the bottom link into the URL of the album you start or directly into the post. Do not move the photos at PB at any time or they will no longer be shown in your album or in a thread.

Now this is import. When you paste the [img] url in you HAVE to delete the [img] front and rear of the URL in the place you posted or the photo will NOT show up. What i do is use my arrow buttons and go all the way to the right and delete backwards until it is gone and then I go to the start of it and do the same.

Giver er a shot and good luck.
