Met up at Applebees in Palmdale to join the Mojave Mile up to Winfield's.

 

Got to the show. The weather was nice. The grounds looked great. They gave us a nice parking spot on the main row.

 

We were in good company.

This is why I love going out to Gene's place. Not only are there badass cars, custom legends, interesting stuff, cool people...but theres also a sense that you're somewhere where real shit gets built. Where real shit was probably getting built the morning you showed up. Fresh batches of fiberglass, molds, builds in progress, cars just out of the paint booth, and cars still in the paint booth! And then there are the cars that have been sitting. Forgotten napshots in custom history. The good, the bad, and the ugly. That's real custom stuff. Stuff you can't get walking the main floor of any glitz and glamor indoor kustom show.

 

This was a car that the customer never picked up. I think thats the story.

 

Winfield fades and highlights never get old.

And of course, the old legends.

It used to be parked behind Cohea's Muffler in San Fernando for years. I think the owner's son owned it and did some custom work on it too.
