Cyanide was a factory B/FX car. The owner/driver was John Faithful.

O.K weather, now clear up!!! I'm itching for some seat time, but not when its raining!! Hopeful we'll get that in this weekend.

Say, do the door sill plates interchange between the Falcon and the Comet?? I need to find a pair before SEMA . Yikes, less than two weeks!! Anyone know if someone repops them?? I recall my old ones were aluminum??

    Thanks for guidance. Dale

Thanks!! I got dialed in this morning!!! Just have to wait a couple days!! Came home to a huge box this afternoon from K&N. They jumped on the car after finding out its bound for SEMA and also how much Roy likes it, probably just 'cause it runs a little small block!!!! So they send me all this stuff for it, after I email them with what I want. A wish list of sorts. They came through, but all the oil filters they sent me don't fit. HP3001's are too long ,and came into contact with my steering linkage (remember my Comet is FAR from stock in that department!), so I asked them to send me the shorty version of the HP3001. Nope, they could not evidently read the email correctly, so I"m hoping they read my newest one to them, the one where I'll now put the itty bitty decals on the car for SEMA instead of the large ones !! Joking!!! More pecking away. Went out and installed my D.O.T. compliant harness from DJS Safety. Yup. Did you know you can be popped in California for not having a compliance cert sewn into your belt????? Thats one of the reasons why I went with that company, due to the fact thay offered it. Heaven help the cop who's gonna lay across my lap to read it though!!!!!

Here is another old picture of my Comet at Bremerton Raceway in the 80's. All of you eagle eyes check out the old Ansen Ground Grabbers. I was running low to mid 12's in those days and actually got in the 11's once with the Ground Grabbers.

Yesterday I pulled out my toploader and today I pulled the carpet and seat out to start the install of the Jerico. So far so good. Brian

Roy- Thanks! I actually found the correct, shorter version part number for the K&N 3001. Its K&N HP-2004. I'll screw it on this evening.

Roy- I got emails about Mooneyes 2010 Christmas Party. They're going to run an A/FX Challenge. Waddya say we crash their party with a couple smallblocks????? I'm already filling out the application!!!:D

Yes I did remove them and I also had a 2 1/2" piece of square tubing at the front of the bars where thet attached to the springs. Those old Ground Grabbers really did work pretty darn good. Towards the end they were starting to bend length wise and at that time you had to have a roll bar at 11.99. So in went the roll bar and ladder bars and then it would not run an 11! Nothing like improving your car so it slows down. Brian

Dale;I went to the Mooneyes show in 08,they were supposed to do an A/FX show, did not happen. What a circus, they parked us then surrounded us with so many cars and tow vehicles you could not move, took over four hours to get in two runs!! I think I will pass.ROY.

We had great sunlight this afternoon, and rolled out for a drive, looking for the best spot to watch the sun go down:

That dagnumbed double pumper sure is twitchy for a car on the street though. Hmmn, could be operator error too!!!

    ^^^^That is just awesome!...great pics...Thanks.

  21. Dale, the Rocket looks great, my fav is the black and white photo. Have fun a Sema, my freind won a Mothers award last year, he said that Sema was a huge event.
Roy, I agree Cal Tracs are the way to go for leaf springs. Without the Cal Tracs the car would pull the left front tire. Now the car is almost flat when I launch.

I love Comets of all years. I love 64 thru 68s but 64s and 65s are just brutal looking. 64s alone scream drag cars thanks to many of the past drivers who did:). I truly miss Mercury since it folded but the sad part of it all was that alot of people never knew Mercurys had one hell of a racing history. Its like when i'm out and about in my 84 ttop turbo 2.3 capri. People think special mustangs. Mercury had racing cars not just Ford. Glad everyone in here are putting something together to run at the local drag strips or at the cruises. Keep the MERCURY flame burning bright:).

    Together again.
The outside cars are the ones we bought in 2008. The car in the center still belongs to the man we bought the others from. We rescued it from a field for him a couple weeks ago.
After we got it home and got to looking we discovered it is not a Caliente but another Cyclone. After talking to him again he remembered he let Kendig have the Caliente because it was an automatic car and kept the 3 Cyclones. So, my previous post of the photo from the 60's being the same car was incorrect.
If anyone remembers anything about, or remembers seeing the Kendig drag team let me know. Hopefully we can start restoring these soon.

The center Comet is definitely a Cyclone. The other two look like Calientes...

I agree Roy. If I had known about Cal Tracs they would be on the car now instead of the ladder bars. They seem to work really well on small tire cars. At Mega Ford I saw Cal Tracs on many fast cars. Brian
