Anybody notice STREET RODDER is getting better taste?

I went to go pick up a magazine at the store last night, and noticed that STREET RODDER magazine has been featuring many more period correct Hot Rods. I think it's a classy move for the better on their part. I really didn't notice a lot of gawdy billet, or the cliche gold chainer cars as much.

 

Dropped them when they had toooo many big wheels billet cars.

 

They're riding the wave just like everyone else. Traditional stuff is whats making them money right now.

 

I've noticed particularly the last two months. This month a really clean PU and really sanitary 40 coupe and last month the 312 powered hi boy sedan with theater seats.

 

Good tech lately too. And thick, lots to read every month.

 

Yeah I noticed it too !!! Billet is for guys that are borderline gay , that still have an interest in old cars !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

I've heard some pretty stupid things on the H.A.M.B. but this takes the cake! Calling someone gay because they like metal shaped by a machine? That's just stupid.

 

I have noticed it as well, although I have always like rod and custom better they are becoming more alike.

Street Rodder has always been one of my favorites (after TRJ).
Most of the magazines are also riding that wave of traditional.It use to be that they hit the reccyle pile in one day.Now it may be a week!

 

Yeah, it is offensive to the truly gay folk out there!

I'm sure you guys have noticed that states, like here in California, and the feds have been holding a knife to the throats of the street rod industry over emissions issues and Codington style fraud over taxable valuation. The economy plus the revinue squeeze is likely to have a huge effect on the viability of that market. Traditional rods may have their turn in the barrel soon. "Street Rodder" wisely has been moving, for years, toward other style cars to diversify their base. Now its the only major magazine I subscribe.. Good Luck: Fred A

Who needs magazines? I do I cant and wont take my computer into the crapper. And remember just because you dont need them dont make them obsolete. EFI and computers ,air bags,emissions controls all these things make our cars seam obsolete to many people but I cant and wont live without them.

Gay is two dudes having sex. Billet wheels are just in questionable taste. I really don't see any correlation between the two! And if you were only 'borderline' gay... that just mucks up the waters even more.

But on a serious note, yeah, Street Rodder's content is getting better.

I am not re-upping my sub with them. The actual size of the magazine is shrinking, not pages, but the size of the pages.

they will change the content as soon as something else is considered cool.

 

Don't worry - it's just another fad....

I thought that is what the iPad is for - being on the 'net and the crapper at the same time

 

some of the tech articles are pretty good...but i hate all those damn advertisements in there...

 

Regular streerodding is more Metrosexual, I think, not gay. You know, the guys who carry their bottle of wine into toaday's trendy reataurant in a little fitted brocade bag with a wood handle, instead of in a proper paper bag twisted around the neck.
Streetrodder has improved, but unfortunately REAL trad rod parts cannot support commercial marketing, because all the good stuff is rare and entirely different from the streetrod version...probably within the year they will be doing stories on replaceing most of a traditionl rod with milled aluminum mrrors, teal squashed velvet upholstery with Toyat style armrests, and LS1 parts.

 

I've noticed that and I'm glad that they are riding the traditional trend.
My only question when you have nothing but traditional Hot rods in the
Magazine, Why on post '48 cars have to have big wheel'd high tech
machines?

Traditional is not just for Hot rods....

I thought Street Rodder has been good for the past couple of years actually.

Tim Bernsau has migrated over there from Rod and Custom so that has definitely helped.

You guys are a bunch of Sally's, talking about gay sex, street rods, and all. All the latecomers need to realize the HAMB was the gay version of the old "rockabilly dating" site when it first started. Look it up.
