I like R-R's but it's not TRADITIONAL for them to feature them.

I have seen some features in recent months that keep me reading until the wifey is done shopping.

    Dick Trickle...poor sob.

70% ads 30% cars, I look at a friends copy, and buy Hot Rod Deluxe. :)

  13. This is has been the funniest thread on the HAMB for a long time.
Some of Street Rodder is good, and some is not so good, if you can get over the constant bolt on the advertisers latest gizmo's crap.

I noticed this month the abundance of traditional hot rods in SR when I swung by B&N. First time I have bought a copy in years. some really great stuff in it; the ads still push billet stuff but they will eventually come around and push traditional products on us because they will have to move with the market to stay profitable, then those ads become pretty damn handy.

  16. I just buy pre 1964 issues of Hot Rod and Car Craft at swap meets and then I can see what was really latest traditional trend back then. Nothing new under the sun.

My old boss' name was Dick Ryder, yea that was fun. Street rods are just hot rods with disk brakes and radial tires!

I have a friend named Burt Peacock and his brothers name is Chris Peacock. I don't believe either of them own a street rod. I didn't know them in college though.

I stopped buying most of those magazines when they stopped knowing what they were talking about. Fancy posting a 64 Chev for example and calling it a Hot Rod shit everyone knows a Hot Rod is of pre 48 Vintage and unfortunately the late comers though a 62 Galaxie or whatever you want to name was suddenly a Hot Rod. Don't they know the difference between a custom car and a Hot Rod, but Rod and Custom at least told you with the title what they were covering which is a good magazine in my humble opinion.

Even though I have Hot Rods I wish I was skiled enough to build a Custom which will only live in my mind how I'd like it.

FACT! did you think your subscription was enofe to run a magizine? so few parts to sell for a TRAD ROD. they will hylite cars with parts from their advertisers. for them its survival

As always a lot of name calling here. Many here admit that they never have grown up. Maybe that is part of the problem.

I started a thread about Street Rod Magazine a few weeks back but it got shut down.

I also complained about the fact that they call it Street Rod Magazine.

I suggested that they call it Show Car Magazine.

They could still cover their advertisers with articles about cars that are actually going to be driven on the street.

About 1/3rd of the articles should be about street car models made before 48 and 1/3rd made after 48 and 1/3rd could be about show cars and Car Shows of all ages.

Yes Magazines like all other business except GM are private and have to make a profit to exist.

It isn't shame on them for trying to keep their advertisers happy because that makes good business sense.

However they also have to keep their Subscribers happy because they also help pay the costs.

Advertisers pay for exposure to those who will buy their products and services.

If circulation drops off so will advertising dollars.

I still like Street Rod Magazine best of all of the Magazines I have a subscription to.

    Dick :)

The mag has changed for the better in our eyes , more traditional stuff in there, I advertise only in Street Rodder , we get good exposure & as the years have gone by there are more feature cars with our parts on so for me it's a win win situation, long may it last. Even the goodguys gazette & streetscene are showing more trad cars in their event coverage.Stop whining it's a good thing.
