Hey Phil - looks great! Do you plan on racing it next year? I don't know if I will have my J out next year (in the process of moving right now and setting up new garage),so prolly the year after. You going to Empire next Sun.?
haha well that's good, glad to see you got something you can have fun with on the track. If it's race ready you should take it out sunday to our rain date and see what she does. -Steve
C'mon you guys know when you buy these cars you have to go through them to make sure it's safe to blast down the quarter mile. I left it on the trailer to drag it out to Leichester yesterday but the rain cancelled that. I got the windshield out now so I'm not sure if I'll bring it out to the track this Sunday. but you never know...lol It'll be Friday before I can even start looking it over, check the timing, see what gear ratio it has maybe change carbs yada yada yada you know the drill.
I guess you're right no V8 VW coming out of the garage, she says sell it before doing that...lol thanks Andy, I had to make sure and get something that would stay ahead of your new roadster project..lol
Swadw; Take your time & make it safe... Race season is soon over.. Got all winter to make it 'right'. Rick
Looks like I'll be taking the car to Leichester this weekend but not to run it down the track, just letting it be seen. The weather is going to be good for Friday on through the weekend, so I'll check things out before hauling it out.
I picked up a 73 bronco 9in rear today (thanks rumblefish) that plus the Art Morrison ladder bar package I have will tidy up the rear. The next part I need to find is a set of good heads for the small block and a set of fenderwell headers. Oh yeah, finding that windshield divider piece is a little tougher than I thought too.
VROOM...VROOM...BABY !!!! picked up these Edelbrock rpm heads today complete with comp cams roller tips, now to freshen the short block
Gateway Recycling on Union used to have a J way in the back along the tracks. Been awhile since I've seen it & scrap has been up & down. Might be worth a look to see if it's still there for the windshield rubber.
wow thats sweet it looks like the one that guy bought then sold a day later on racejunk that had a small block ford with a c6 tranny. good luck with it . that makes me want a gasser even more now
I got a divider out of O.K. but those screws are stuck something fierce, is that Martin's old place you're talking about ?
Think it's Martins old place, on Union right at the railroad overpass, water authority across the street.
What a great Henry J. This is one that has that "something" about it. It is and has the character of a hot rod. I know when I saw mine, it was like Christine. I didn't really want just any Henry J, I wanted that specific one. So is this one going to stay a street hot rod or is it going the drag route?
I plan on keeping it street worthy but sure want to race it a bunch too. I'm pretty excited about this car, just had a friend stop by checking it out and seeing it in the garage is still way cool ! Now I'm down to headers and a convertor, that should be all the parts to start putting my stuff into the mix. I was screwing around with scoops, kinda like both, the sheet metal one I bent up lends to function over form but the Hilborn style....what can you say that it doesn't say it's self.
I'm pretty sure Martin's got cleaned up 4 or 5 yrs ago. Big auction, then a lot got crushed. It's more of a "recycling yard" now. That's what I heard anyways. jjk
No I didn't Neil, one is enough for me and my budget, still trying to get that truck finished too ya know. I'll keep screwing around and end up with only the t-bucket road worthy if I don't keep on track here. I put up some extra photos on the first page, the car is pretty solid.
