Okey-dokey, OneFinger. It's just that it looked as though the whole rod club appeared voluntarily. SO, I wondered. Anyway, I' love to have the intake on that Firepower Hemi!

  12. On the subject of vintage pedal cars: In the years just after the end of WWII I had a jeep that came in kit form. I have yet to see another one like it or even a picture. It was made of very small angle iron and the body skin was aluminum. The steering wheel was cast Al. The wheels had hard rubber tires and ball bearings. The propulsion system was the push pedal with a pair of crank journals on the "live" axle. I lived in the Seattle area and I suppose it was a small local company putting them out. I'm sure I would recognise one if I saw it in good clear pictures.

I have had one since new. It almost got away but I was able to get it back. Mine had a fold down windshield, lights and horn with a big round battery for power. I will try to get a pic for you. I always thought it was made by Beech Aircraft after the war. I don't know why. I sure don't think it came knock down as it has a welded frame and riveted skin.

Red Ram Dodge, 241/270 with a Offy? intake. Still available.
Might be Edmonds as the runners are kind of crooked.

These were called Beeps and were gas powered and had rubber tires so not the ones you are looking for.

RE: Hi-Domes. I'v been on a 'quest' to find info on that club for some time now. There are several photos from the Life article posted in this thread, and I had them printed to carry around on a poster board to local shows... none of the old timers seem to know'em. From what I can gather, without reading the article, (I have not found the text, the date has not been ID'd as far as I know) the club was out to clean up the image of Hot Roding by doing road side assistance with courtesy cards, blood donations, ect.
As far as the pic in question, looks like they may have contacted the fuzz for a voluntary safety inspection toward that end.
The photo appears to have been taken at Lake Mersead...and the back rounds in others are contestant with the Sunset district/ Great Hi-way area.
My guess is at very best any surviving members would be in their late 70's. I am still on the hunt.

  22. What a great thread!
If anybody has pictures, or can steer me to some 1950-s-1970's pics of my hometown of Portland Oregon, let me know! Or post some.
Seems as if this era didn't happen as far as what I can find on line!

  23. Sure looks like Chris Economaki to me....I'd bet a shiny new quarter on it.

  25. I about got myself into trouble when i went through the gates at Ft Knox and in a southern accent asked them 'If'n I could see all that gold that backs up all the little one dollar bills we got floating around". It wasn't much appreciated. If you can, check out the Museaum. It's great. Back O/T.

Lets see, I originally said that the officer was writing a "fix it" ticket for having too many carburetors on one engine. By the time I finished, you down loaded more photos and the joke lost it's meaning. Then I tried to erase everything and couldn't figure that out. Did you see my original post ?

Anyway, keep up the good work and I'll try to be more current, John
