Hey all. This 1965 Supervan (my avatar) and more pics at post #800 of this thread, is now for sale as pictured. It runs and drives good. I purchased it as a project, but my daughter was diagnosed with cancer. All time and resources are going towards getting her well.

Send me a PM if your interested.

    Thanks!

I guess this would be the right place to talk colors with some other Econo owners. I cannot, for the life of me, decide on a color(s) for my '63 5-window.

Overall, I want a smooth simple look...Although paint schemes like Coby's van look bitchin'.

My current idea is satin black paint, with all the chrome "trimmings" (Headlight bezels, door handles, bumpers, gas cap, and maybe grille). Another past idea was that 2011 Camaro "Synergy green" color with a little metal flake thrown in. I was also looking at that 2011 Mustang electric blue color too

I love the look when they are lowered by flipping the straight axle and rear-end over the leaf springs. Thats a definite for my project, and I'm also contemplating shaving the door handles.

For wheels, I am absoloutely clueless.

It'd be great if I could get some input, and maybe some suggestions to start leading me in a direction.

    Almost forgot the pics:

Flat/satin black is WAY over-done IMO. I've seen a few electric blue Econos P/Us. Looks great. That green would be intense. If you were going to go that route, you should break it up with some panels, fades, scallops, or something.

Honestly, I think it looks good white, but I'd dress it up with some simple scallops to break up the big slab of white

  5. I found out some good news yesterday. What I thought my engine was I was wrong. It's not a 144 or 170, it's a 200.

    Hell yeah!!!!

36chevrolet, I love that pick up! Your son is super lucky.

First, that white is an "amateur coat to prevent rust," as the ad I got it from stated, so you can sort of take a guess at how nice it is. Its THICK on there. So bad to the point of where I have to get it media blasted off. The good news is there is barely any rust at all.

As far as "going green," I like the idea of breaking it up. I have seen scallops done nice, and Coby's van is another sweet pattern, but nothing seems to look good on a 5-window pickup. Mostly plain colors work best.

There is also this 'plum' color I saw on a couple rides here on the HAMB (pics below). It seems to look alright, but again the pickups and vans have a completely different looks, albeit having the same color...If that makes sense to you.

  9. I thought you were done with vans??? You should've never gotten rid of yours.

That seems to be a common swap. Bolts right in place of the small 6s. There's a book put out by a Falcon club on how to hop up those small 6s. You have to order it directly from them, but it's a good read.

There are some amazing Econos being built by H.A.M.B ers ! I'm hoping to see Coby's in person when we have our van show in Buena Park Ca. Feb 19 and maybe see Mothradeath's even if it's not finished at the 39th National Truck-In in Old Washington Ohio July 13-19. 2011 will be a huge year for Econo related events, I hope you are all able to get out to one of them with your's.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Econo I made up a special calendar page including 50 early Econos: [IMG]

You should bring it to All Ford at Carlisle in June. We'll be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Econoline.

I was saying that in general, not necessarily just Econos... and really more flat than satin :)

I got 2 a 61 I'm building going with a 5.0 h.o. built a bit, shooting for 425 h.p. or so in stock location with overdrive c4 and plan on doing a drop but still have'nt made up my mind on which way as there are so many ways... and a 67 I bought for a parts truck thats actually pretty complete and close to rust free other than some surface rust from p.o. starting bodywork then abandoning it with a few small spots of pinhole rust and a banged up front panel that also came with a 351w 2bbl and c4 setting in the back. original drveline M.I.A....well I don't want to steal anything since there's not much I need for the 61 so I'm thinking about selling it..I got all the glass but windshield is cracked...and thought I'd mention this here first...although it's no where near the great steal/deal the guy with the green one got...(I got 2k into it) I'm near chicago so if you're serious about wanting a restorable one with a buildable engine/trans send me an email....thanks, cliff

If you're willing to cut pieces off your parts truck, I may be interested in some parts

  26. Just a heads up for those that need to know what size clutch they may have.

I just redid mine. It's a 1961 with a swapped in 200. The swap was done so well it wasn't evedant that it wasn't original.

The disc is an 8 1/2". The flywheel has holes which allow oil and water to escape and not ruin the disc. Make sure these are cleaned out properly. Also, the flywheel bolt holes in the crank have no bottom which means they are open to the crankcase. These need to be sealed with thread sealer. Another thing to check is between the bellhousing and the transmission. On my '51 Plymouth the trans has a rod that you can see the end of on the face of the trans, the van has the same rod. An old timer told me to make a gasket from an old cereal box that fits between the trans and bellhousing. It will seal off the end of the rod and we prevent leaks in the future.

Another tidbit. The clutch and pressure plate were rebuilt by Tennessee Clutch 1800-262-5882. They did it for $76 shipped with a new pilot bearing and new throw out bearing. Ask them for a clutch alignment tool. They usually throw one in. I have these guys in the past and have always been pleased. The contact is Randall. Great guy.

This is all basic stuff that I thought I would share with my fellow brothers.
