need help ID-ing Canadian Mercury

I was offered a mercury meteor but i can't find a vin number and am having a hard time id-ing the year. I found a badge on the drivers front door post but it is not a VIN badge. It reads

39 style CDBF-73-B
Body No.
CBE53-3720

I will post pictures as soon as possible.

Actually this was a test for the Psychic’s in the crowd. They failed!

 

Thanks guys, apparently from 49 to 51 the vin plate is on the cowl under the hood. For the first part of 52 it was on the p***enger side door post. I found out it was a 52.
