Does your build have a sister? She can even be a bit uglier by me. That one is hot, even with the messed up back side. Have fun with it. I'm jealous.

I do keep an eye out when ever I see em they are in idaho or nebraska or some other mid west state that would make the trips fuel cost alone in my f250 with a trailer probably more than the car I am buying. Us midatlantic/northeast guys prob have the worst selection.

Yup , you're nuts , lol !! It'll take some work , but at least it's worth the effort & will make a cool ride . I agree about the poorer selection in the northeast . Certainly makes it tougher to find a solid fixer-upper .

I'm a fan of old 'Dubs too (had a few) - cheers !

Those car that were converted to trucks back in the war days were called "war babies". I have seen some done pretty nice jobs on the conversion's and they didn't look that bad either. They were trying to conserve gas and rubber back in the war years so that's why they did that, you could get more gas if you had a truck. There were also places that would measure the depth of tread on your tires. Also people would try and stock pile gas rations so they measured your tire wear to see if you were driving or not so smart folks would change tires around an drive the same set to town on different cars. Anyway, thats an awesome project!, Good luck with it and keep us posted. I'm looking at a 29 5W couple in about the same condition and am deciding if I want another big project like that........hhhhmmmmmm, yup i'll probably drag it home.:D

Hey, that looks like a lot of work....;)

It also looks like it is not too banged up, if rusty.

Hmmm....I thought they were all beer cans by now here.
    Good luck!
    Hope all's well, man...

You are certified "nuts"............as are all of the rest of us. You will ask youself many times, "Why the heck did I start this?" If you persevere and finish, one day you will know the answer. :)

Those repo door hinges that were listed look like a godsend to me. Back when I was doing Model A's I would have been all over a set of those. I used to scrounge and cannibalize anything I could get my hands on to complete a set. Yes, the price seems a little high but after you've spent time and $$$'s trying to save junk you eventually learn the easy/pricey way out is the best (if making progress is worth anything to you).

It's good you don't like vintage VW's, it leaves more for me. I had many of them back in the 80's and 90's, a restored fifties delux bus makes a 32 seem cheap.

That coupe is great rod material, starting with a less than perfect body makes the final ride that much more rewarding.

Thanks for the kind words guys! I am def not trying to set the world on fire with this one. I just want a safe, dirty, driver... First thing is to get this body more solid.

Sourced a set of coupe cowl sides since the ones on the car are destroyed... Also had another cowl from a tudor I think that I was going to used for a rpu project I scraped. I can prob use some things from it. Car came with a gas tank as well. I cut that up today, and welded up the center gauge cluster. Forgot to get a photo of it tho...

Yep, you're nuts! Next you will progress to the deluxe nuts stage by acquiring every old part you can find. My wife still does not understand why I have to have five rear ends, four front ends, three transmissions, and four different sets of rims in the basement.

Oh well, I just found and old junkyard that belonged to a guys grandfather with over forty pre sixty cars. Hummm, now where can I store it....

Yeah, that's me...did you ever build the rest of it?

  24. Its just sheet metal. if you can weld a V-Dub you should be able to weld a Ford.

You should have a good time with it. Or better said enjoy, you got yourself an A coupe.

  25. My nephew got this one for $2500, took it home and started it. Still needs work but don't they all.

Hell, you've already got it on wheels, grab a chair and a steering wheel and get somebody to hitch up the ridin' mower to pull you around while you get the feel of it :D

Its been hanging on the wall for a year. I started building a 30rpu around it and got side tracked. I am going to use the frame horns from your frame for this car. And some of the cowl from the rpu for this car.

It is not any harder to install a 12" high patch than a 3" one. I always said that I would rather buy one that is really bad, than one that only has small blisters of rot. Same amount of work, only the purchace price is lower!
My 38 Buick only had one hole in the floor... It started at the cowel and went all the way to the trunk handle!

BY THE WAY, WHAT KIND OF FRIENDS DO YOU HAVE THAT DON'T SHOW UP WHEN YOU BUY THE BEER?

Thats a good looking coupe body.
The pickup bed is a very cool option that is rare and hard to find.
I remember seeing those on running cars in the 1950s.
Lots of folks have a coupe but coupe/pickups??
    Desirable and practically more useable
    I'd build it as a coupe/pickup.
