Awesome day big guy I have such a soft spot for 60's big body Mopars. I am sooo jealous of you southern folks still racing.
The old MOPARS run better today than they ever did. Those of us old enough to remember the "good old days" are still amazed how hard those cars launched on 7" tires. The Super Stock and A stock cl***es were filled each weekend with 413 and 426 wedge Mopars and 409 Biscaynes and a few Chevy IIs. A lot of innovation came from those race teams.
The " traditional police " tried to write me up for my nitrous, I told them hey, its been around since the 1940's {I caught the vacuum pump too, a man after my own heart.} BDM
I dig the pump but, it was a ******* to get it to work correctly .. I had to bug Jay(Da Tinman) during his dinner a couple times Sorry and Thanks again Jay Now it works like a champ ! Picture of its cell mate too
Nice set up but looking at the headders I dont think I want to try and read a plug after a bad*** p*** without asbestos gloves--LOL
Anything in the 9's deserves all the respect out there. Unless you've done it you can't imagine what it takes. When I started in the late 50's-early 60's a low13- high 12 was a struggle. Frank
quickest/fastest car i ever owned was a '64 sport fury with a '68 GTX 440/4sp. kept a set of 9" slicks in the trunk. never went to a track so i don't know what kind of times/speeds it turned. sure was fun on the country blacktops. engine was a long way from stock. that was in the late 60's. wish it still existed. wish i still had it. i'd sure like to line up against four-thirteen at MoKan. note: just because we raced on blacktop roads 40 years ago doesn't mean it was smart or good. sure wouldn't do it today. anyway, i hope you're having as much fun with your '64 as i had with mine.
ahhh , a ninja edit ! Its a 500 inch wedge , 13-1 cr, Indy CNC ported Big ez heads, cnc Indy intake T&D 1.6 rockers , Oliver rods, Callies crank 4.150 stroke Cam card 727 automatic, built by John Cope verter is a PTC , it flashes to 4500 , rear is a Dana with all strange axles, spool, 4.56 ratio Tires are 16x 32's Car with me in it weighs just a tad over 3700 depending on how many burgers I have had in the last week
I like it, but why not lean towards the nostalgia super stock look? would you believe we have guys running high 8's and they still have the "look"? 10.5 tire rule applies. nothing against your car and it certainly deserves props for the performance. just asking a legitimate question on a traditional site.
Awesome !! I graduated in 1962, and always liked those Mopars !!! Talk about a performer!! Good for you.
Congrats on getting into the 9's.I like old Mopars as dragcars myself and theres not many on here for me to look at ,so thanks for posting ...
Thats the great part of this hobby, everyone can build what they prefer ! I grew up at the track with sixites Mopars , all running big tires ..this car was 1st cut up in the 70's to race super stock I've owned it and redid the car starting 20 plus years ago , small tires weren't the hip thing when I started on it , took me a long time to complete it I like it fine this way, so do 99% of the people that see it
