Ok, once again, its what I like right? Call it what you want, but Im not going for period correct, its not really supposed to be an era correct "gasser" its turning out to be exactly what I want it to be. If I had to call it something, I guess I would call it a gasser flavored, daily driven street freak style BAD ASS MOTHER FUCKER!! There, does that help?

COOL! How long does that take? Can you do me up some other color combos? Whatever you think might look cool. Thank you very much!

Since you built it to look like a racer you should finish the job. Make it a race car, put some work in the engine and say good bye to daily driver.
I think the car looks alright, but posing is posing.
So instead of looking cool it will be cool, and safe. That's not a fun ride down a less than perfect Nevada road. Oh wait, the roads are pretty nice out there.
Do it! Go all the way!

Dont want it to be a "race car". Not a full blown one anyway. This is my daily driver. Last year I even drove it in the winter when it was lowered. Its not ONLY going to the track. Its going everywhere. Does that make me a poser? I want to drive it everyday and have it sit in front of my tattoo shop and attract business. Its getting a new engine and trans in the spring, so it will definitely be doing some burnouts and maybe see the track once or twice for fun. Ive always had old cars since I was 14, and not all of them were comfortable to drive but they were all FUN!!

Poser??? Whatever.... Man gassers are a blast and a handful under full steam even with a weak power plant. I give you huge credit for making this a bad ass daily ride. I wish we had the weather out east to have fun like that year round. Keep it up man, way to go. I like the lighter green for the color. And I say hell yeah to giving it a name of the door!!

I agree with your viewpoint Chris. Some people just don't seem to get the idea of "To each his own". Would I do the car this way? No. Does my opinion on the build direction count for anything? Fuck no. (I'd leave it the way it is but put a Ford motor in it just to piss off the Chevy purists):D
Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. Keep at it man, I'm diggin' it.

I ain't knockin' it, but the ass seems a little high to me.
Yeah I said posing, but that isn't all too bad. Not like a wing on a four door accord.
Have fun with it, definitely make a nice billboard for your shop.

I agree with the "put 20s on the white chevy, and it will be in style".or maybe a set of mudders for a 4-wheel drive look. Really I Thought Gasser were built to go Fast! So you Radiused the Wheelwells for biggers tires to let the rear down for weight transfer.of course im more of a sledder.

Im kinda lookin for a cross between gasser and street freak. Not sure if I like the second term so I call it a gasser. I think the line between styles of cars has been crossed and merged quite a bit in a lot of really cool cars. Call it what you want to me its a bitchin car that WILL go fast (Im tattooing a machinist who's building me a killer 383) and definitely turn heads with a tunnel ram, uncapped headers and eventually the right color scheme. I'm fuckin STOKED!

I'm with you. Are 'all' lowered cars the same height? Same wheel/tire combo? Whatever. Build it cool. Run it hard!

Are you going to run cutouts? It'd be cool to light up Wingo at a stoplight by uncorking the exhaust!

    Later,

    Mike

Yup, a short extension off the header flange that will T into the flowmasters that are already under it, and uncap also. We started it the other day with just the headers on it. You know what that sounds like:eek:-:):)-:D:D:D-:eek::eek::eek:. And the engine thats in it has a pretty good sounding cam already. You cant hear the gear drive with straight headers but thats all-right!

It looked pretty cool as a sled, but the gasser deal definately works for that chevy.

It was mentioned earlier and I didn't see a response, so i thought i would re-pose the question: Why aren't the rear wheels centered in the wheel wells?

On the same subject, from the pictures anyway, it looks as though the rear tires are awfully close to rubbing. I think that if you moved the axle center line back it would give you a bit more room. By doing that you could, if you wish, drop the back an inch or two. Not saying you should, and i like the car as-is, but if you dropped the back it would look more "gasserish" yet.

Its your car, do what you like and hate me all you want. Just my $.02, and you're doing a nice job

    Adam

Oh, and i like the green

Hey the "nosebleed stance" ROCKS! Gassers have been a part of Trad. Hot Rodding for decades. BFD there's one less "lead sled" out there. Good job so far man, that thing looks kick ass!

Thanks man, appreciate it. Ive considered doing just what youve said and I might get to that later. Not to worry Adam, I'm not the hating type. I'm excited to finally have a build thread, cause Ive gotten a lot of entertainment and learned quite a bit also out of other threads that have guys goin back and forth and giving different opinions. So thanks for contributing.

So which green? I kinda like both greens.

I preferred the darker green, maybe slightly metallic?

Are you gonna clear coat the top?

I wish i knew how to run photoshop, it looks like fun.

I had a guy tell me its a pain in the butt to get clear to stick to bare metal unless you use an adhesion promoter. And if you do theres a chance it'll start to peel and yellow later. When I first did the top bare, I got on here and asked what I should do and some suggested an oil like WD40. I soaked a rag with it and wiped the top down and it hasnt so much as even started to rust. Its even sat in pouring rain! So I'll take a die grinder with a sanding disc later and make the top look machine turned then oil it again.

Ah yes, a worked over 383, now we may be in business. You definitely need something poking out the hood with the look you are going for.
