I got rid of the whole upper windshield frame section. I cut the posts off at the pivot for the lower windshield and moved the peg from the top of the posts down to the pivot for the lower WS. The top bows are all home made. The bows are made from 1 inch channel shaped with the open side up. I installed a plastic strip in the channel to staple the cloth to. The first top I made was a quicky that was not intended to fold. The second top does fold, but I do not drive with it folded as it sits down on the panel above the decklid and I don't want to scuff the paint. In order for all this to work and be able to actually get into the car the seat is WAY low. I had seen so many 26's with short windshields and the driver with his head above the windshield (ugh!) that I did a lot of work to get the seat down.

The car is fun to drive and has plenty of power with the 288 inch flathead. The columbia overdrive is one of my favorite parts in the car, other than the look that I had wanted to get.

  2. Is that a Columbia Quick Change? Did not think that was even possible.

Bill, this car is absolutely******IN!!! Stroked flatty!? Columbia quick change!? Holy***** we need LOTS more pictures!!!

I'm 6' 1" and will be doing a LOT of modification to my seating area to get down in the car too. I've never cared for the way most people sit "on" a T, I like being down low "in" the car with the door tops about shoulder height. Can you show us how you built the seat?

    This car is my inspiration!

Good to hear, thanks. I'll be using my stock top bows but, of course, they'll have to be modified. I plan on dropping the seat; I have too, I'm too tall.

To get down low enough you need to get the seat pan down between the frame rails. You need to sit in the body and see where your feet are going to be. You can't have your knees up in your chin. You are taller than me. You do need to shoot for having your shoulder at the top of the body. You should also know that with the top up, you can't get in or out of the drivers side door. You have to go out the passenger side. I don't mind, but if you get out, the passenger gets out first.

Don't have any pics of the seat area. Here's some pics of what I started with. Billk

It goes together just like a regular Ford rear end center section and the Columbia. The Columbia is just a special right side axle housing that has an overdrive built into it. The axle shaft is the same Ford axle shaft that is already in the rear axle. The overdrive is shifted in and out by a vacuum selector valve. The vacuum comes from the intake manifold. Billk
