The old girl hasn't moved since the first pictures. I stop by every few months to say hi and put some mouse poison in the cab. I have a '57 235 to stick under the floor pans. She was on my list for this winter until the '53 showed up.

KoosCOE, plan is to clean her up, running well, stopping nicely and get the hoist going. Then throw some junk on the bed and drive around. I have a pair of '61 4-doors that would look neat stacked in the bed.

Tommy, I plan to install the medium wheelbase service body W35 Holmes Wrecker I removed from the '46 Chevy I had. The truck I plan to install it on, is a long wheel base, low milage, '52 GMC 470 series 3 1/2 ton COE, with full air brakes. This service body is about two feet too short, so I need close up photos of a long wheelbase W35 Holmes service body like yours, so I can possibly fabricate the forward tool compartment section, like yours has, so it can stay original looking.

Koos, sounds like a great vacation. How many miles/km's did you end up putting on it?

We drove 2000miles/3200km. I only hade one fuse broken from the airsuspention, the light swits mail function and two times the battery was dead after to much cruising.(the radiator fans pull to much amps)
The engine was very cool, only 160f :D

Tyhanks Koos. That would be great. I have no idea on the shipping costs,or how it would get shipped. Let me know if you have one and we'll go from there.
    Thanks, Baron

  26. Here's the rust I dragged home the other day. It's a 53 Chevy coe that work hauling spuds in Central Washington. By the****le I got with it the ol boy bought it in 1970 and he said they used it up till two years ago. Luckily I live in the desert so the truck isn't really too rusty and these shots are of the bad side..
Plans call for a new(er) frame and a like period stepside box, just not too short maybe 9 feet to keep proportionate. Still looking for insight as to using a truck frame or a van, but now that it's home I'll start measuring and figure it out. I'm kinda tall (6'4") and wear an extra-medium size sweater (haha) so I'm also considering mounting the engine behind the cab to get rid of the doghouse.

well, I thought I would post pics, but it kept failing- I posted them in my photo album but..
at least I will give this a bttt

I used a 89 Chevy 1 ton dually chassis. Shortened the 136 inch wheelbase to 106". Kicked the rear of the frame 3 inches to drop the same as the front 3 inch dropped spindles. I mounted my engine back just under the seat riser. This let me leave the floor panels in there stock configurationfor maximum foot room and less engine noise and heat.
I'll make a cover that will be be easily removed after the seat cushion is off the riser for access to the carb and distributor.

This one belongs to a friend of mine. He drives the hell out of it, dragging old cars and his 5th wheel EVERYWHERE. It's on an Isuzu chassis.
