    ...far as I'm aware the 1st Holdens with V8s were the HK Monaros in '68. They used 327s ,in '69 they went to 350s...
    The 308 motor was used round then in Luxo models like the Premier and Brougham although some had Chev 307s....
    somebody on here is bound to have a better recollection than me...but I'm pretty sure the 308 was derived from an earlier Buick engine..
    Don't recall ever hearing of a Clayton engine...

    What's a Clayton?

    fleet-master is right, Australian designed/built V8 was available in '69. A few performance models were built prior to that but used Chev engines.. and you've probably seen more or them over there.

    the holden v8 is based on a Pontiac , Pontiac firing order, smaller and lighter than a SBC . 253 to 350 from Holden, 396 via stroker crank, HP not much to over 1000hp, before the V8 a fast holden was a straight 6 with factory twin carbs or a 2 barrel.

    I collect valve covers and am waanting to know if the early holdens that used the ford or chevy motors had holden on the valve covers. Decals or imbossed?

  13. If i remember correctly the mid 60s to 70s RED straight 6 had the name embossed.Them valve covers won,t fit on a Chevy straight 6.

    Looking for a bracket from an early 60's Holden that mounts on the glove box push ****on.

  15. Quick reply;

    253/308 came out in HT/HG ? '69-70?. 253/ 4 speed was a Great lil' street combo when carefully done. Power/economy!
    Holden sixes- no alpha/numero emboss on covers. Decals on 'reds'. None on earlier 'greys'. These sixes are fun, Lotsa speed equip. for both variants. Red is real nice sixties inline around 149- 202 cu. in., stout bottom, nice flowy head. Bad*** T bucket/ altered mill.
