haha thanks I love all the classic monster movies and pretty soon I'll have ol Frankie tattoo'd on my leg along with the other monsters
If you want to laugh your ass off go to my profile and look in my album "my addiction". That ought to ease your pain. LOL!
Thanks Stan! Sure was an ugly fucker under all that bondo though! Who am I kidding...it was an ugly fucker with the bondo! LOL! You have the power of the HAMB to guide you though young Jedi! Soon you'll be making that cruise to Austin for Round Up and parking that beauty in front of the Continental getting a big thumbs up from Junior Brown! Ok that may be reaching a bit....
round up is where i plan to take it when its done thats my goal just not sure which yr it will be lol
Well, depends on how you attack it. Can always get it running and clean up the body later...BUT...I didn't do that. Looks like you and I had the same idea and your gonna jump all over the body first. Makes sense too me! No frame to get in your way so you can get to all those wonderful nooks and crannys where rust loves to hide. Plenty of people get'em running then do all that, but sometimes delayed gratification is better. My wife keeps telling me that... Oh shit! It's late...this ol' fat man better go to bed! Talk at cha later man.
Can't lose either way. There are a few videos on youtube of mine if you want to check that out sometime. Had a thread on here a while back called, "come for a ride" or something like that...lol. Made it back when I first got it together. Kinda cool I guess. My wife was filming it...she loves riding in it.
Definitely! Here are my favs; Dw vs. Chevy and Rat Rod Hemi (I know,I know but it's the easiest way to find the Jimmy White video). Dirtyjohn ardmore or mo-kan will pull up some of mine. Can watch me do a little bit of racing. Hopefully I'll be able to post some better ones next year.
First thing I did when I joined the HAMB was look up DW LOL! That video absolutely invaded my mind man! Motivated me through my entire build...still does to a certain extent. Hell, even my 2 year old son loves it! He's a cool guy. His wife Laura rocks too...good peeps.
so my spring and perches came in from posies,..hung it from the frame grabbed the axle and slide it under to see how it would look tried bolting it up this is what I came up with...i know the shackles aren't right in the pic but i did have them pointing downwards towards the axle...well from everything I've read you shouldn't be able to just bolt everything together correct? I should have to spread the spring to get it into the correct spot? first thoughts are the spring is to wide for the axle but my axle is a original model a with spring perches bosses at 36 1/2"... my spring is 31 1/2"
I'd help out Stan, but I haven't had to tackle this kinda problem before. Hopefully someone else will chime in soon who knows wuz up...
man I hope so...I was aggravated to hell and back, I've measured my axle over and over to make sure its right
These things can make you nuts. Lotsa heartaches, but sooooo worth it in the end. I'm about to pull my engine out and start over. It's hard to tear apart a working rod, especially when you only been driving it for 6 months. i'll peek in every so often and give you a btt until this thing gets worked out.
thanks, I found a thread on here from a few yrs back that pretty much sums up what mine is doing...but no one really answered the part about not having to spread the spring
well I messed around with the car a lil more today...this is what I've got done so far still waiting on more parts to come in
so after doing some measuring and loadeding the spring with a ratchet strap I'm pretty sure I ordered the wrong spring fml
I'm doing a very similiar chassis. I took 1 leaf out of the spring and got what I was looking for. jim
one of my shackles unloaded is at 45...when loaded its past 45...I'm thinking it should be a 31 not a 31 1/2
well I called Posies, there shipping me out a 31" spring and I sent back the one I ordered originally so hopefully this will take care of the problem
I think you made the right choice sending it back because where your spring shackles are at now is about where you would want them to be when it's under it's final load (all the heavy stuff on board). Have to wait and see what 31" looks like....
with a ratchet strap around the cross member and axle the driver said would go way past 45 and the passenger side was at a 45...plus not having to spread the spring kind of threw me off...I got the axle from Joe's speed shop and its suppose to be a original model a is there a way to tell 100% if it is or not?
so the new spring came in got it on and also my f100 brakes hubs and backing plates came in so i threw the backing plates on to get a idea of what its gonna start looking like
don't have any pics to post but figured I'd post a lil update...I welded the wishbone split kit up and got my brackets clamped to the frame to have a idea of where everything is goin to sit while i wait on my spindles to come back from Joe's Speed shop...once they come back I'll get started on putting the front together to see how its all goin to fall and pictures will follow
as promised here go some pics of the spindles back on and the tie rod on and a pic of the backing plates Joe sent me pretty sure I'll be shipping these of to be plated along with my bones
