I"ve had one in my 37 g***er the HEAD HUNTER for a while ,it gets lots of looks the kids love it,the cops think its real !! i will post a pic. if i can figure out how
I have one of the rubber ones from the Ripley's Believe It or Not gift shop in Arlington, TX. think I paid about $4 for it. He has a tendency to ogle the hula girl stuck to the dash that a friend brought me from Hawaii.
I had one in my '48 for years. One of the cool old goat skin type that JEEM here on the H.a.M.B. gave me years ago. I took it out awhile ago when I was doing in home sewing machine repair for a living because it scared the "straights"... I rolled up to a house in Mesa where I had a call, and the kids were playing in the front yard. They came running up to my car as I parked and asked all sorts of questions, and I asked if their mom was home. The little girl saw the shrunken head and said "Eeeewww, what that made of?!? Idiot me says "a head"!! Screams of abject terror, the kids run inside... I grab my box and knock on the door, and am told never to ever come back again, as the police have been called!!!
I got to see some real ones in Ecuador last summer. Really pretty amazing. But they are treated with great respect, as treasures now.
not yet , but if the jackwagon next door don't stop throwing his empties over the fence i will . Post pix later.
X38, If that was to me. It'd be funny to see, Just because i find the statement amusing. The reason i want a tiki or a shrunken head, Is because i find the whole Voodoo/Tiki Scene appealing, And it looks cool! Of course there's alot of other sub-scenes that fit in with cars. But Tiki just seems so damn cool!
After visiting the mutter museum in Philadelphia last month, I have been really wanting one. I want a real one tho, and I wouldn't keep it in my car either, it would probably be my most prized possession.
You could buy them through comic books when I was a kid. I always thought they were pretty slick but I never owned one. Wish I had an old one at the old one price.
I have a really *****in rubber one from long ago.. Its stuffed with old newspaper from Hawaii, Dated Jan 11, 1959... Its ****in Kool!
I can remember back in high school some kustoms with shrunken heads hanging from the rearview mirror. Some were cool.
Had one in my first car. Girls HATED that thing, but it made me look attractive in comparison so I kept it.
I've been hanging them in my hot rods since I started driving in '86. I still use them in everything, even my 17 year old daughter has one in her Maverick.
here's mine in my 59... made by real (former) head hunters, but with goat skin and hair. Even has eyelashes.
This is a do-it-yourself kinda site...anyone have any tech tips?? I understand you pack the head with hot sand in several stages, but don't have enough info. And any uses for the rest of the neighbor??
that's funny. I have a rubber lizard on my dash for that. he runs from one side of the dash to the other. some day he's gonna jump out the window.
