This is a 1953 Pontiac Chieftain/Catalina. The grill is a later model, car now has a small block Chevy and 700r4 transmission. I havethe original grill and rear trunk water fall piece. This car runs great and doesn't need much to be completely original. This car has been gone thru; It's solid with no rust and drives very straight. I'm curious what my car is worth? Nada has these listed starting in average condition 21,300.00 to 29,600.00 high retail. Thanks for your help everyone!
From Old Cars Report, more like about $10,000 for a #3 condition car (typical not perfect car but good enough to show and occasionally place in class), the Chevy motor and trans take away from the value somewhat.
I'd say its proly worth about what your estimating ,but would sell for about $9,000 -$10,000 .Im not running your car down cuz it looks really nice, but you asked .I like these model Ponchos but not everone does. The ones that do will most likely be Pontiac freaks to the bone and they will be turned off by the Chevy motor ...
Mine Is similar but has updated suspension, disc brakes, 8inch ford rear, power steering and tilt. I was offered $9500.00 But after 25 years didnt want to sell....
NADA also says this about the conditions on pricing. Low Retail Value This vehicle would be in mechanically functional condition, needing only minor reconditioning. The exterior paint, trim, and interior would show normal wear, needing only minor reconditioning. May also be a deteriorated restoration or a very poor amateur restoration. Most usable "as-is". Some of the vehicles in this publication could be considered "Daily Drivers" and are not valued as a classic vehicle. When determining a value for a daily driver, it is recommended that the subscriber use the low retail value. $12,850 Your car does look good but the market is not there which is the reason for the big price spread.
Whatever you can pry out of the other guys cold dead hand after you bash him in the head with the shovel !!
$75OO to $95OO depending on where and how you sell.Nice looking car just no really great market for it.
Early 50's Pontiacs were never in great demand. If it was a 57-59 model it would be a different story.
Just put it in the classifieds for what you want out of it and then bring the price down accordingly. Hey I got an original Eelco tri power linkage setup what is it worth? Or if you are going to insure it get an appraisel by a professional appraisor.
