Door handles on a custom?

Nope.

 

Decided to tackle something more fun....

 

Post more pics of those bear claws.I am going to do same thing in the future,just dont know yet what kit to use.

I'm interested in knowing/seeing more about the bearclaws too . They look great , BTW .

 

They're just standard large bear claw latches (Autoloc BCLG) and stiker plate/bolt.

Things to consider.....

The window track inside the door hits the latch, and it / or the latch may need some tweeking for everthing to fit.

Also, the striker has to be placed at the very inside edge of the doorjamb.

Could the latch be installed further back into the door, and the striker bolt more toward the middle of the door jamb, dunno.

 

Great job so far. I will be watching with keen interest.

And may I take a moment to compliment you on your choice of footwear.

 

Thanks for the additional info . Mine's also a 49 , and as you know , the stock latches are a bit weak ... to say the least , lol ! No wonder they changed 'em for '50 . I can certainly see bearclaws in my future .

 

Great work! I have always loved the '49 and '50 Fords. I'll keep watching this thread for sure.

The latch install looks good. I did the same install on my car, I feel so much safer with the new latches, my old ones would just open when driving down the road.

 

Thanks for posting that striker pic,i think it'll help me with my project.
I had to replace both rockers and it took some time to tear off remains of the old rockers,checking that everything fits,welding etc...
But atleast you have a solid floors,they look like a lot better than mine..

 

I love project threads. Especially when they're done by regular guys like me. Don't get me wrong, I like watching the pros go at it too.
