Several owners chose to drive and park thier rides on the streets around the Austin Power Plant location. One in particular caught my eye and I would like to id the owner of this sweeeet 62 Buick Skylark... see the attached picture.
I believe it was featured in a recent issue of R&C. Let me go see if I can find where the wife stashed them. Wrong. The featured one is a convertible and has god awful wheels.
I'm not sure who he was,but he was nice enough to move his Buick up far enough so my heap could fit behind it.that was down right cool
I didn't see who was driving it but I was parked there and he took my spot when I left. It looks a lot like the kind of car Stoked Out Specialties was putting together. They did a handful of the '61-'63 Skylarks and F-85's exactly like this. You might find them under "Status" Customs, or even Mitch Henderson Designs. http://www.hubgarage.com/mygarage/mhendersondesigns/vehicles/7639 http://www.hubgarage.com/mygarage/mhendersondesigns/vehicles/7638
Thanks for the replies... especially the connection to Hubgarage. In the past I was really captured by this baby buick. Have owned over 15, alas all have gone to other owners. Sellers remorse I suppose.
My wife and I drove the Buick down from Dallas. We had just bought it the day before. We were going to drive it back to Wisconsin, but it was really loud at highway speeds, and the brakes were a little dodgy. So we wimped out and flew back. My plans are to move it in more of a mild custom direction. What a great show we really had a great time at the event. Randy
Randy: Thanks for the reply. I can tell you there has been a long car love afair between me and the little buicks. My first encounter was with a little ole lady car a 62 Buick skylark coupe. It had exactly the same interior as yours. That car was my daily driver from 1976 to 1983. The only reason it left my driveway was a sale to purchase a Hudson. I still own that car and my avitar is based on it. Good Luck with your car it is a sweet looking machine. BTW... my wife who also owned a 62 Buick albeit a wagon ... commented on Saturday, look at that nice 62 skylark. That is the first time I have EVER heard nice and car used by her in the same sentence. That is high complement. Good Luck on getting your car back home. Ken
