I'd like to look at photos again myself...they should be stuffed in a box somewhere a couple of wives ago. I have some time off around X'mas and I'll be ready to do a search.

 

How much suspension travel do you have before cutting a tire? I'm trying to set my ride height and travel and am unsure of how much travel a street/strip car needs.

It won't cut the tires as it has adjustable stops. I think there is about an inch of stiff travel at the most. Pretty rigid.

amazing car any updates? this car has made me decide to save my poor 62 ranchero that i was about to part out and do something similar with. probably do something a bit more tame for the engine but nose high and loud! well done let us know when u get it out on the track!!

About the converter being a bit too loose.
Stall speed and converter 'looseness' is a
function of engine torque. With another
engine, even one with more total high rpm
horsepower, but less low and mid-range
torque, that converter might be just fine.
It's probable that the guys at Art Carr
simply underestimated the amount of
torque produced by a blown nailhead!

I got tired of cleaning 10 pounds of dust/dirt/grass of the Strange bird every time I started it so I made turnouts for the zoomies. Now it feels like your'e getting punched in the leg by 12" tall midgets over and over when you stand next to it.

Back in the late 60's I put a Nailhead in my '53 F100, so I kind of have an idea how it feels to drive truly fast oddball.

 

I think your idea of doing this is well thought out.

1) First, you bet it will save you the headache of cleaning things up

2) Probably equally important on another level, it will add some really great eye candy for anyone judging you car on just looks (many people looking/judging at some events weren't even alive when these cars were the norm)

How did you fasten the lower part of the front fenders?

The cooling outlets are on the back side of the heads and the front of the engine plate. Front fenders are attached with dzus fasteners on the factory core support.
