Looks really good to me, I think if I lengthen the front doors and slope the b pillars forward it will really work. Now I need to pluck up the courage to chop her.

    Cheers

  11. Hello,
first Time Hamb'er poster. Just bought a 52 Hudson Hornet Sedan project that needs some personalization and I wandered over here from the classiccarforums.

Wondering if someone can photoshop these 17" rims with blackwall tires same diameter
    http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1055240
edit: or 17" black or red steel rims with stock hubcaps and appropriate beauty rings?

drop the suspension about 1.5" front and 1" back

for curiousity : graft a sliding vw type ragtop sunroof on it - shown open preferably- black canvas
heres a pic of a car with the sunroof in it. sunroof is about 33"x38"

paint everything but the roof above the drip rails Gun Metal Grey
paint the roof/ visor a charcoal grey or visa versa what you think looks better.

    Thanks!

are you sure you want to change it !!!??? .. steve

  13. yes, the paint is a 10 footer and the tires are bias Plys. Im updating it. really funny about the color, i dont really care for it, yet many people who see it comment on how much they like it... Also dont care for teh spoke front wheels. was thinking about doing a 17" steel rim (custom made with Hudson inner) with stock hubcap adn 17" beauty ring, cant decide.

Matt, Thank you. This is the look she wants Torq thrust with the centers painted like the car and she said the skirts are going to stay. Thanks to everyone who helped.

Hudsons are getting tough to find- especially in that condition. Please do not hack up the roof, and whatever you do, do NOT use those wheels that you posted the link to.

I certainly don't mean any disrespect here, but this isn't a VW- it's a beautiful "step-down" that needs to be preserved. If you want to change the color, add some mild custom touches and switch to radials- go for it! This is the same car (in 4 dr) that was whaling on people on the track. Please keep it uncut.

Thats my girl. Thats why I have to keep reminding myself it not my car. She is unique. 17 yrs old with the whole world in front of her. watch out world.

  19. Hudsons are pretty cool. I know its not a VW, but thought maybe something would carry over from that brand and be kind of unique. those are a 60's style rim, so i thought id give it a try... on the computer at least. Not like im throwing spinner on it... but maybe here its just as bad?

I thought someone could photoshop in the sunroof just for curiousity, as it would be a 50-60's period accessory also. Not that Im going to sin and cut the roof.

If someone doesnt like the BRM's, adn could create it as 17" steelies (black or red?) with a stock hubcap and 17" beauty ring with colors and suspension drop, Id like to see it. never seen a Hudson with a sunroof, I dont want to "be that guy" that destroys a good car. thanks for the comments and input. it has a rebuilt single carb flathead 308 in it now that will stay.

Ive got a mate thats falling on hard times and his car is getting close to finished.....Im hoping to inspire him to get moving again so him and myself can finish his 61 off....its so close and only needs a few things and our labour but hes down in the dumps and needs motivation...I can tell you 61 parts arent exactly easy to lay hands on down here, south of the equator...seems he/we picked the oddball model...
I grabbed this pic from the net (apologies if its anyones here) but cant get a good pic of the real deal as its jammed in a little shed and Im hoping to make this a surprise for him...

Can someone lower it some more, put some big centrelines on it and make it all red?

Ill post pics of the finished product on its debut, hopefully around new year....
