The plan is yellow with white top, having trouble deciding. The yellow I've imagined on it is the darker yellow that is on late model gmc and chevy trucks. But now leaning toward the new camaro yellow
If you want a nice bright yellow, in 2000, one of the corvette colors was called something like Millenium Yellow. It was an awesome yellow. GM also had a nice yellow on the 93 Trans-Am (I had one) and it always got the thumbs-up when driving around. I think the 2000 Vette yellow was just a bit brighter...but not shocking. Worth a look. Yellow & White cars are awesome. maybe highlight the color change with a thin black pinstrip to give it a bit more pop. Not sure if the body lines on the Impala would work for that, but it's a cool way to make the white pop a bit more. Keep posting pics of your progress.
Before You go spraying any late-model GMC yellow´s on it, take a look at the OEM colors from ´58 yet. There´s a quite nice selection right there to choose from, metallics especially, "Sierra Gold", "Anniversary Gold", "Cay Coral" etc. etc. that would look totally awesome on that car. Not "feeling" Your "late-model GMC" -yellow, not on a ´58 Impala, sorry.
one more vote..... OEM!!! Bright yellow can only work if this car is very custom. It doesn't look like thats the case here. In my opinion you want to leave youre tire/wheel choices open. With a light yellow/white two tone you can maybe save a couple bucks down the road with factory caps and whitewalls, same goes with the interior. I am fighting the same thing with my 57. I am trying to come up with a color that will look good with dog dish caps, and somewhat late 60's era so I can change it up later. I am kinda rambling here. Hope you get my point, however humble it might be!!!
'58's are one of my fav's. I had a cherry '58 Impala back in the 80's. That's one of those cars that I SHOULD HAVE held onto. Good luck with yours.. looks great!
Leaning towards torque thrust or crager type wheel. I originally wanted the darker deeper yellow but I'm catching hell over it. Not a lowrider guy but my brothers had bought me a lowrider magazine with a yellow car they built for a giveaway. Yellow and white, a traditonal tuck and roll custom interior and I thought it was beautiful. Starting to look like I'm the only one that thinks that way John Mc
I would go with a pale yellow from like a early 60's GM truck. With that said, doesnt matter what we like on here, it's your ride. Paint it the color you want, after all, your the one footin the bill.
The pale yellow gets my vote too, on my truck in '55 they called it Yukon Yellow. It had a different name 10 years later on Chevelles and Corvettes, etc. Harrington is right, it's yours and you're paying for it. That's why I'm going with '56 Chevy Sherwood and Pinecrest greens on the '55, no matter what anyone tells me.
The car was factory black on black, it's a decent car but not black quality. They didn't do a true yellow on the car in 58 Other than the vette and the tri color interior in my opinion that year was gaudy at best. I'm more confused than ever on what color to put on it and it will be in the booth in the next week to 10 days. Going to dig thru the books today and try to figure it out. John Mc
The bottom line is its your ride!!!! We are just giving our opinions. 1967 chevelle has what is called butternut yellow. with a white top factory full size caps lowered a couple inches with big whites!!!
The late model "Corvette" yellow is VERY difficult to match if you ever have to repair. Its a multicoat process with a tinted clear coat.
I'm pretty sure that's velocity yellow with the tinted clear, I don't think millenium yellow is that way (but I could be wrong). Velocity yellow also looks greenish under certain lighting in my opinion.
The velocity yellow was tri coat and too rich for my blood. Paint is ordered! I'll just surprise everyone good or bad lol
Like I had stated in another post, the trip to the auto college turned out very very bad. We're back to working on it ourselves. I'm sorry it's taken so long to get back to working in it but here are some fresh pics from last night
This car has been in way to many pieces for way too long. I do feel better about the yellow and white though
It's really coming along nice and I hope the pieces start fitting together soon. Can't wait to see more pics. How is the chrome coming along?
Have the bumpers and roof scallop replated, but have windshield moldings, seat and tube grill to plate and a dozen or so stainless items to polish. I plan to have it at Bowling Green but not sure at how complete it will be
