Looks British to me, anyone have a clue?

My future son in law sent me this picture of a car out beside his grandmothers barn, I haven't talked to him yet and this is the only teaser pic. Any one have a clue what it is ?

I would need to see a side shot or front shot for me to help. I can't tell from that angle.

Looks like a smaller version of a '33 Ford...believe they were called simply an English Ford.

Prolly need a better pic or a side shot...

Ratmotor, yeah after I posted that crossed my mind too. I would ask him to send more pictures but he sent that from his phone a couple days ago and I just opened it. Looks like I might be making a short road trip in the near future.

My 1st thought is Austin

 

He just casually mentioned that she had an old car out at the farm and wanted to know if I was interested, hell yeah I'm interested !

 

I will say that this is not a Ford. Fords in Europe had the belt line molding similar to US models.

It's not an Austin either, they had a similar molding.

 

Possibly a series 1 Morris Eight. Need more pictures to make a positive id. Front, side or three quarter please.
This is a 1936 Morris 8

Disc steel wheels were fitted to the later series E but I'm not too sure if they fit the earlier car.

The ribbed bumper bar and swage line on top of the mudguard / wing / fender look similar. Yet I could be wrong.

Definitely Brit...those taillights are a giveaway...same as used on early TR2s,3s and a few others. Could be a Standard - Dolomite....shoot - I used to be able to reel off names and iterations of those older Brit rides until the sun went down, but it's been so long - it has just left my brain....

Look at the rear window reveal - it looks exactly like the Morris 8 in Cymro's photo.

 

Morris 8 Notice the Metal shelf that holds the spare tire. And they had a cloth top. This one is in Florida.

 

the rear window recess, hinges and fender ribs match the Morris ...

 

Thanks for all the responses guys, yes it's a Morris. I finally called my future son in law, he said he had snapped this pic at a job site he was working here in Lubbock. So... it's not his gramma's car and doesn't look like it will be a future hotrod, at least not in his or my future anyway.

So, I still don't know what kind of car is out at his grandmothers ?

 

It Is definitely a Morris 8, but has to be 1937 or later, as the "easy clean wheels" only came out in 1937. I used to own a 1936 Morris 8 from 1970 till 1973 when I lived in the UK. Paid 25 pounds for it in 1970 and sold it for 350 pounds in 1973 in order to get my airfare to Canada. She was known as Queen Victoria, as I met the original owner in Liverpool in 1972.
