need the name of bodywork "how to" that first came out in 1936. small with a red cover. Something along the lines of "how to bump metal"? Thanks for any help.

Martin Tool and Forge has the copyrights to that book. Always good to keep that book handy for reference.

    Hey,

The '36 addition had a black & orange cover with some different pictures not reprinted in later additions. The later addition, the one with the red cover, came out in the fifties.

Yeah, that was the " Fairmount Method " This was probably the first book in print to teach correct damage ****ysis so the "repairman'' didn't do more damage than good! It stressed ''unlocking the damage" rather than just blindly beating the panel back into shape and causing many hours of unnecessary work.

Fairmount book came out in 1932, I have a 1st edition, it was changed abit around 1935 to "The Key" probably cause of the Packer book. Both are good books. tt

    Hey oldgoaly,

It's interesting to note that the "Packer book" credits Faimount for info on tool selection and the shrinking of damaged metal in its' 1939 addition.
