32 ford 4 door + 1 saw=5 window & tub

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 32coupedeville, Apr 15, 2010.

  1. May just be an optical illusion, but there isn't something quite "right" about this section of the roof and quarter window. As if it's not quite "square" or bulky enough as a real 5-window.

yes . the roof and window is not exactly like the coupe window. but i dont think i will do anything about the window opening. i like it being just alittle bit different. now the roof skin is just clamped on so i can keep working with it.

i started a bulk head devider for the trubk . i also ahevbothe quartes on now. in the earilier pics the quarter were just clecoed on. i have the reare qtr window all welded on the qtrs and have the roof on the qtrs now aswell. thing have been moving along vey quickly but i do have alot of rust repair to do on the door. the lower ends are shot. i also have to weld the patches in the lower front cowl. i am haveing a hard time in deciding what to do with the radiator. i need a radiator that is 21" tall overall. this doesnt give me much room for a fan. i had thoughts of running the radiator in thr trunk and making a cool shell insert for it. i do have a louvered deck lid but i dont know if i want to deal with running the coolent lines and fabing up everything to not know if it is going to cool. i also make the headers but i am not sure if it like them . still have alot of work to do but it is taking shape .

I like the roofline a lot, any plans to raise the wheel wells so the tires don't sit above them? Thanks for the progress report, keep rolling. [IMG]

32, I'm glad this train wreak is back on track. I was almost out of popcorn. After suffering through 10 or 12 pages of whiners, all I can say is you got it just right. Love the look.

This really caught my attention when you said the "Tub" word. I like the open roof idea but I also like to have a backseat. Keep up the good work.
    Still working on mine.

one of the thing i didnt have from a 5 window was the deck panel above the deck lid. i did get a panel from brookville. brookville is only 1 1/2 drive away so that is great. now the roadster panel was longer and had two body lines instead of one . i have been thinking this one over for awhile. i wasnt totaly sure how to go about fixing or modifing the brookville panel. i had to run it by my dad to see if i was on the right path. he gave me some pointers on what to cut and weld first . work out great. i had to take 3+ inches out of the back and cut the top bead off. the top bead i had to reroll. dad made a timplate off an original 32 5 window deck panel and i used it to reshape the roadster panel. the best part is there was extra material to cut out . no adding material. really thr whole conversion from 4 door to 5 window was kind easy because of there being extra material. you can measure and leave thing long to clamp or cleco them together.here are some pics
