  2. I'd like to see the Vulcan's Vicki, too.

Also would like to see a feature on the non-ARDUN OHV conversions that were available for the Flattie; ie) Riley, Adams-Moller, Alexander, etc.

Lot of great ideas in this thread for the TRJ people, who I know will see it. However, I actually really like the three suggestions in the first post by 296 V8. Has some hot rod, has some custom, and has some personaliity.

I agree with Mark. More Kustoms. I would like to see articles that deal with car building families. I would also like to see more regional coverage. U.K.ROADSTER said it also. I would like to hear about the car scene in other countries and how that influence started. Slim

  5. Agree with "gotgas" # 29 post,,,

all due respect to all the great ones! but how about some young gun's ? Who is keeping the flame lit... who have they been inspired by? any one mentor? famous or a local legend or mabey a family member,,,how about what is really going on in some backyard garage shop, not a pro or for money garage?.....and that does not have to be young or old...

Also, if they haven't done it yet, Don Garlits and his museum and one more vote for the Vulcans Vicky.

Amen, guys like Brian Bass are just the latest of many talented artisans from
not only the Lone Star State but from the central part of the country that have added untold wealth to the cause with little acclaim nationally. And a
few stories of people who do it all themselves in their little one or two stall
garages. One local has been dedicated to old Fords and flatheads in particular for over 60 years and is still crewing a dirt car at 70. Without an
America full of little guys the West and East coast scene would never have
    been more than a fad

Having never subscribed to the magazine, I don't know if it has been done already, but how about an article on Barry Lobeck. Here he is in poor health, interview him before it's too late.

75th Anniversary of the '36 Ford.

I'll second the Non-Ardun flathead conversions.

    I'll echo the at least 1 issue without a '32 Ford. :D

One of my all time favorites Cal Tanaka's 33. I'd also like to see an update on Pat Ganahls 52 Chevy. And it can't be said enough, the Inman Chrysler.

Like the Texans on here, I'm proud of our contributions as well and there's two more guys I can think of locally. Dick Smith, builder of the '32 roadster in the Henry Ford Museum and JR Bloom who has mountains of black and white drag racing pictures from the west coast. Mostly AZ though (Beeline, Mel Larsons, Perryville, etc.).

Love the medium, agree that there are too many voices leaving us lately. We need to document them!

Mr. Bass' road trip and car.
    Inman Chrysler
An article on the midwest hot spots. There was an article years ago in another rag (mighta been Janet's) about Ypsilanti. Great stuff.
They did a great story on S&W gauges. There are other icon parts that would also be good to cover.

  17. I have to concour with you Kev on Squeak Bell. I am a little biased since we are good friends. The guy is a riot and a half. Love that guy!
Would like to see an indepth story on Dick Kalivoda and his partner John Hamlin. Dick's racecar B/MR is in the NHRA museum in Pomona and is cool as it gets. He also had a dragster named the Joker in 67. Very cool story that needs to be told. I think they are still kicking up in the NW.

  18. Agreed 100%!

Gow-jobs! A feature on Gabby's T, 1920's-early 30's backyard built speedsters/roadsters, or the beautiful Multi Aldrich car would be sweet.

  19. Art Chrismans coupe . Someone please correct me but I dont remember it being in there. This gorgeous coupe is more deserving then I want to say out of respect for others .This should of been a cover and a huge feature showing all the history and including a interveiw with Art .

Second that. Also times two on Spencer, especially the t-bird, and another vote for the Inman Chrysler. Would also like to see more history on the NW and the BCCCA

Thought about this more, re: BCCCA, how about various clubs that have been around since the 40s-50s? The articles a couple years ago on Early Times & the LA Roadsters were some of my favorites, why not do a whole series of articles on some of the less well-known clubs from back in the day? Could be REALLY interesting, and bring some more obscure period cars to a wider audience??

I second the idea about a story on Kalivoda and Hamlin. Kalivoda used to bring the roadster out to S.I.R. and the local car shows in the Seattle area back in the late eighties and early nineties, always loved getting to see that car.

I will be 60 this month and have watched the hobby of hotrodding in its current form from its start here in New Zealand in the early 50s was but a lad then. some of the original cars are still around.only a couple of weeks ago I veiwed taffs old roadster the car atributed with starting Rodbenders the oldest continuous rod club in NZ its in its original form unaltered and in good storage with the builders brother in law also around is Lew henrys roadster from the same club a car which was a milestone in NZ in the 60s. Rodding is worldwide like the HAMB lets see the starts in different countrys milestone cars and how they followed the worldwide trends

  29. Ya, his roadster is just perfect TRJ. My dad was a big influence on Dick restoring/refreshing that car and getting it back out into action. I was able to flag start it at SIR during the time you are talking about.(OLD TIMERS Nostalgia Drags) Was a very cool day! Helped out with the Glass Slipper too. Never forget it.
