    UPDATE:

I have just added "The Raven" . Currently owned by Joe Germann of Chelmsford Massachusetts , The car started out on a 1939 Dodge chassis , its body mods are extensive and consist of parts such as Kaiser, Chevy, Lincoln and more. This car took over 7 years to build back in the 1950's , its original owner/builder is 90 years of age and is attending the show!

Another car i just added . The Dale Arrieta Cadillac. A 1947 chopped Convertible Custom. A recent build that has been winning awards all over southern California. This car is stunning and its black paint and body work is perfect ! Pictures simply do NOT do this car justice.

Pictures really do not do this car justice! I don't think I could get sick of seeing this car. I'm getting even more excited for GNRS!

I remember reading about this car in TR&KI, it was his first build!

  6. Wow your reaching all the way over to my neighborhood! The Raven is a great addition to the show!

  7. I have my plane tickets bought and booked a hotel room in Claremont. i just have to book a rental car. Are there package tickets for all three days? Do you pay admission for the outside stuff?

I going to hang around for a couple of weeks and tour around. I hope to visit a bunch of car shops and take in some blues.
I might even find a car I have to buy! I'll tell my wife its for her.

I am interested in car stuff that is within half a days drive, shops & museums.
I hope it is okay to ask that on your thread Axle.

  8. axle, was that Frank Kurtis that did the body panels for "The Tommy Lee Special"?
    Awesome car!

Yes Craig... Frank did the body, and George DuVall designed the car.

No problems at all. There will be a lot of stuff for you to do. The NHRA museum, of course the GNRS, the Petersen museum, El Mirage, Many Hot Rod shops in the So-Cal area- Vintage Hammer,Circle City,Limeworks,SoCal,Mooneyes, etc, H&H Flatheads, and much more.

To answer your question on the GNRS. Yes, purchasing tickets for the entire weekend is cheaper than purchasing for separate individual days. Your ticket includes everything on the Fairgrounds - inside the buildings as well as outside. Look forward to having you there.Axle

UPDATE: I just confirmed that the "Busonic" will be in the display . A historic survivor custom from northern California !

    1955 Buick Busonic show custom
The BuSonic was originally built by Roy Abendros' in 1963. The body work was done by Schmitt and the paint was done by Watson. This baby started as a 1955 Buick hard Top.
It took 3 years to put this Buick Century together, they started in 1959 and it only cost'em 8g's. Metal man John Schott did up the up the design. the Stock fenders were removed at the rear and replaced with "57 Lincolns, they scooped out the front and reformed at the rear to take triple, height mounted exhaust.
Two complete '56 Cadillac bumpers were purchased for rear guards. each side is two outer tips with 3' section added between, holding three '59 Cad taillights. Fenders were shaped to fit, and as with all other parts, rubber gaskets were made up to seal fit between body and special component. deck lid was tapered in tow inches at rear and new sills formed to fit. A belly pan at the rear necessitated raising the gas tank 6.5" and putting in a new floor. The novel license plate holder / nerf bar mounts direct to frame through pan. mesh is all handmade. All door and hood corners are Busonic Bronzed-hued beauty are rounded. Front end of the hood was cut off and sectioned 4". Grille opening and canted headlight tunnels were formed in tubing.
Interior is completely restyled with console and FM, record player, bucket seats and fur trim, done by Paul's custom Upholstery Shop. Paint is trimmed in Copper metal flake, all by Watson. Frame has been C'd front and rear, with drive shaft tunneled. Wheels are Cadillac wires adapted with spacers.

Between The History of the Custom "Mega-display" (for most of the coolest customs in history) and the Suede Palace (for the superb musical line-up and sheer atmosphere), this event is going to be off the dial!

Only if you purchase 10 or more tickets. Other than that tickets have to be purchased at the gate. Thanks

  23. Would it be possible to run out of tickets for an event like this?

  24. We are witnessing the bar for custom carshows go thru the roof on this thread . This is getting very unbelievable.

  25. I want to say a huge thanks to Alex Idzardi. I have secured a spot in The Suede Palace for my 62 Galaxie. This GNRS is one that is going to be a gathering of all the greats.........you ol' timers know what im talkin bout'!! :D:D:D

No, tickets can not sell out. The facility and all the buildings are simply too large to fill up.

  27. I had a feeling that was the case, thanks axle.

The addition of the Busonic is just... I dont even have words for how cool.

You all should be so proud for putting this together, its truely amazing.

The Busonic had also lifts up front. By 63 it wasnt already a routine mod, and although it wasnt the 1st car to sport hydraulics it still was quite innovative.
I like this car a lot.
The 1st batch is from the for sale thread a while ago,
while the second batch is the second version of the car that was painted in late 64.
