Hugh Riley, the Dad in the Lassie show, lived around the corner from me when I was growing up. His son was one of my brother's best friends. Hugh hated that show, he was a serious actor and Lassie was all he was remembered for.

about 1869. The Thylacine, or so-called marsupuial wolf, died out
by the mid-'1930s. Land holders generally considered the then-rare
animal a nuisance likely to raid their hen houses. The much-published
