I have sold cars & parts all over the world. I have had good results. Some folks just don't want to be bothered with the shipping & phone calls it takes to make it happen, especially if they are parting with a project they might be losing money on. I have a 30 plymouth coupe project you may want. Take a look on the classifieds.
First of all,... your money looks funny,..... Do you have the game monopoly down there? Frankly,... your money scares us,.... and I believe 9 out of 10 Americans are very uncomfortable with the term "Down Under",.. IMHO
folks do not respond out of ignorance they do not know how to call overseas, have no idea how to have money wired to there account. they do not know how to everything except listen to other idiots who tell them not to cause they are also are with out a clue, if i am selling 1st one with the money gets it anywhere in the world
BWAHAHAHAHA! I have a fake ID we made up when we were playing 'enemy' once. We were sent to a Navy base and had to illegally gain access during a 'base alert'. My Id is Indonesian Armed Forces and name is Xa Long Dong. The writing says: Indonesian subversive, Terrorist, Thug, Oppressor and generally not a nice guy. The Navy security let me through the front gate, weapon and all! I know it has nothing to do with the subject but man it bought back some good memories. Doc.
It ought to, the Oz dollar has increased in value to the greenback by 15% since I have been here. Essentially I have taken a 15% pay cut and I'm not happy. The Ozzies think it is great but more sober minds understand that it raises the price of exports. The AUD and USD are at parity which is great for Ozzies buying US goods and properties but it will have a cooling effect on the economy out side of mining eventually. A happy medium needs to be obtained and at what level that is is a good question. Oz better make hay while the sun is still shining, China is buying everything they can from her mineral wealth. I'm hoping it isn't rape.
Oh its rape, the good times will be breif and we shall fall back to 40c on the US dollar. Hey El Caballo, you turned okka huh? Could be worse, it all could be Choice............ not a place to be mining right now. RIP. Doc.
Well look who decided to poke his pointy little head out of the rice paddy. How are things at truck factory #5? I need some new plugs for my ride, how would you like to trade for some ARVN rifles............never been fired and only dropped once.
I sold a truck to bykerlad down in OZ last year and everything was good....... He sent the funds and I delivered the truck to the shipper....... What are you looking for......?
I sold one car out of the country, and it was the smoothest transaction ever. Guy pulled up with his trailer, handed me cash and drove it up on his trailer and took it to the docks for shipment to his friend in Sweden. Listed another one and had an Aussie wanting me to get shipping quotes, measurements, and basically arrange the whole process before he would commit. It sold during that time and the fella from down under was upset that I had sold it. I told him the other folks used the buy it now button, and he said "but I was working a deal with you!" No you weren't, you were yanking my chain and the other guys stepped up to the plate, simple as that.
Wow, I've been inundated with PM's for everything but a Skoda!!!! ahahaha. Thanks all, but looking for a relatively stock f100, early to mid 60's, preferably in SoCal area, and was chasing a 40 coupe, but have found something else of interest now. Thanks Scotty, we have spoken since (was 3am here when I got your mail) , appreciate it mate. Going through the process at this end now as you know. Very humbled to have dragged Ngo Long Dong out of hiding as well
My neighbor's got one...it's not in very good shape, but I'd bet he could be persueded to part with it for the correct (stupid) amount of money...EVERYTHING has a price...!!! R-
I got news for you... even that doesn't work. My wife sold her 61 Galaxie (unfinished project car, needed some work but a solid driver) to a nice young guy. He was very enthusiastic about the car, talked all about how he was going to fix it up, big plans for it. Even told us a story about his old car that his ex screwed him out of after it was all restored, etc, and that's why he was looking for a new project. We talked about how my wife and I had rescued it from going to the demo derby and how we just wanted it to have a good home. He assured us he'd treat it well. We had a real good feeling about the future of that car, so we gave him a good deal (actually less than we had invested). Later we found out the lying SOB was fronting for a junkyard. The car was stripped for parts and scrapped. Bitter? Just a little.
Similar story here, I was working on a deal for a 1932 Ford Tudor , the man had died and the widow told me she was selling to a father and son team, the son was slightly invalid and the whole project was for a sort of therapy for the son. She told me the name of the new owner , i know him, a million dollar antique car dealer with a perfectly healthy son. She even gave them a discount for the sob story. Boy was she pissed when i told her to look up their website.
That happens to me too. Oh. Wait a minute If anyone on the west coast wants to make some money, fill a 20' container with A model to 1948 Ford front ends and banjo rears and send it to Sydney. I can't find one for looking!
If you cant find an A model front end in Australia you need to get off the computer and start really looking.
The shipping to sell you a car will be more involved. I would suspect many sellers just want the car gone without much hassle. they want a buyer to show up with a trailer, give them a ball of cash, and be gone. There may be some that dont want the car to leave the states, but I think the added work on their part to coordinate with your shipper isnt worth it to them. My suggestion is to reply with a shipping plan, a carrier that will pick up at their house, take the vehicle to pack and ship location so they know its handled, even if you work out the details later. I sold an $800 69 Firebird 400 in the mid 90's to a guy in Canada. took approx 75 pics, developed and sent, had approx 20 phone calls, had to set up certified payment at the bank - his request. wasted a day waiting for his shipper that didnt show and missed a day of work, spent half of another day on a shipper that did show. I understand he was protecting his interests but it was a major pain in the ass. Even after all the pics and accurate descriptions, he still bitched about condition of the car. I could have just asked $600 and sold the car locally in a few days.
I think if you dont want to deal with the hassle of selling overseas or even out of state you should post it in your ad. Ive sold a couple cars to out of state fellas and it really stressed me out. I really want someone to see in person what they are buying. I want 100% satisfaction from the buyer and the only real way to do that is see it with your own eyes. Ive purchased one car long distance (Connecticut) I found a cheapy flight and flew out to check it out in person. Was worth it to me to avoid being scammed.
Do I smell?? Yeah mate.....you do !! Ya need the Spray Fresh (or is that uncle Sam?) - the ultimate shower in a can !! Rat
