Already getting the bands lined up for next year.......
I have always loved Merle Haggard & Waylon Jennings.

I hope the people that come to the show appreciate REAL honky tonk country as well.

It has been over a month since posting on this thread and I figure I should give ya'll a heads up.

Things have been going pretty smoothly with the City Council in Maquoketa. Overall I think the city is gonna welcome us with open arms.

We have confirmed that The Surf Zombies will play again this year - they will be kicking things off on Friday around 4:45

After that will be the Rhythm Dragons - all the way from Arizona - high energy rockabilly - should be cool to see a new band and some of you on the board may have seen them play Viva Las Vegas in the past.....(they have a new CD out now as well)

And after much wrangling - we have secured the Greatest Band in the World (under 400 pounds) Mad Max and the Wild Ones!!!!

All the people on the west coast know what a great show they put on - but people in the midwest rarely get the chance to see them live.......
now is your chance! They will go on after Wayne The Train Hancock.

    Friday Night Vintage Racing

We are still working with several vintage racing associations to get them to come over and participate in the racing on Friday night. If you have any contacts or interest in racing a vintage sprint, midget, modified - let us know!

    Art Show

The art show is coming together nicely and we have secured Zombie for the cover of the special coloring book that we will be producing to benefit - www.helpinghannahsheart.org
Add to that the Surfers Cross that artists will be helping out with and the different artists that will be at the show... we have quite good feast for the eyes. (Keith Weesner, Max Grundy, Todd Jones, Ed Tillrock, Mototooner, Keven Carter, Lucky Lily Studios (photography), Nick Sinclair, Relic, and others to be announced are scheduled to be at the show with their merch)

    Pre Registration Party

We will be throwing a party Jan 21, 22, 23 2011 in conjunction with the 28th Annual Rod and Custom show in the Quad Cities. Many people dont realize there is a 7000 sq foot room connected to the QCCA in Rock Island. The Rod and Custom show have never really utilized this space and we came to an agreement for us to put in some hot rods/bikes in the room. We will also have some bands and hopefully there will be some artists to show up for this get together as well. Scheduled to play : Friday night - Rumble Seat Riot - Saturday night - The Magnetos and One Night Standards. We will have multiple viewing areas showing Vintage Torque stuff and on the big screen we hope to bring you some vintage drag racing action so everyone will have some great eye candy!

    Drive In @ Route 66

The response for the drive in has been REALLY favorable. We are in the works with the Drive In to possibly make this even better........we will keep you updated and will be sure to nail down the details no later than mid Jan. Remember - the first 300 PRE Registered vehicles get in on Saturday night - there is no more room for cars after that.......we are already at 44 pre registered vehicles and the show is 5 months away!

OK - I have had people emailing questions about specific things and I hope that this update will take care of those answers.

Thanks to everyone who has already helped out and all those that are gonna keep on with the logistics and details to help this show roll on. Jeff Bailey has spent hours helping us iron out entry details, Steve Day has been coordinating the inside details, Tin Butchers have lined up some great stuff for the swap meet, Half Fast from Chicago is heading up the motorcycle section, Stick Shift has been rounding up some models for everyone to check out and Keven Carter puts up with my constant telephone calls asking him to do this or that with only a moments notice. Add to that the sponsors - Ol Skool Rodz, Robies Grading Services from Milwaukee, and Victory Performance Parts - all these people are getting together to bring a great event to Iowa. For their efforts I thank them all!

    OK

If anyone needs promo material for their shops or to put info into your Christmas cards - let me know and I will send out some stuff to ya!

    THANKS

well Povertyflats - if you come all the way up here - I will sneak ya in the back door baby!

wow - that would be amazing!

The Pre party is only gonna have about 7-9 hot rods in there........

and if anyone wants to step up and bring theirs over - let me know!

Right now we have a couple of spots open.....I have a couple of guys that will do it - but I gotta go get their rides with my trailer, and I would rather have them driven in -but hey - if you have a killer riide and need me to come and get it - I will

Thanks for the support Paul - and hopefully the KKOA dvd that you are starring in (for at least 5 seconds) will be hitting the streets next week.

    John:

I'm sorry, it must be the new fallen snow.

If my pals from KS decide to show up, I may need to bring more than one. Have you picked anything else?

PF likes the 53 Ford. And the 40 Ford. I like the 56 Buick. And the 50 Pontiac.

The front glass and side glass has been replaced - now I gotta do that back glass.........
among other things - like get it running again.
It took a crap on me about 3 weeks ago and I have not even had the time to start on it.

The plan is to take it on the dirt track though!

Hey - GovernorKC - if you - OR anyone else out there needs some promo material to start hanging in shops where the public will see.....or postcards and stuff - just send me a PM with your snail mail address and I will send stuff out to ya.
This grass roots marketing is what helped the show out SO much last year and I hope that ya'll can help out again this year!

I will be at all the World of Wheels shows as well promoting and if you plan on coming to one of the events - just hit me up there.

Thanks for all the support and we are meeting with the Chamber of Commerce this week - we may be able to announce some other things that we are planning either in Dec. or early Jan......

have to get some stuff lined up first.

Also - anyone that wants to pre register for the show in person - you can do so at the different events.

But we are going to have a Pre Reg Party held in conjunction with the Quad City Hot Rod Show Jan 21-23, 2011.

We will be showing vintage drag racing all weekend and have some hot rods back in the small hall. At night we will have some bands playing live.

Should be a good time. So anyone that is in the area - hope ya can come out and have a good time!

The above image is what Keven Carter of Car N Art came up with for the motorcycle section of the show.
We had a pretty healthy turn out of cool bikes last year and we want those same people to feel welcome again.

NO the motorcycles can not go on the dirt track.......
that is one of the reasons we give them a break on the admission price.

Hope ya'll dig the image as much as I do.

Yes - I know that is the same weekend as Spring Jefferson.........
    alas, I had no choice.
It is because Easter is the weekend before our show and Mothers Day is the weekend after our show.

I realize many people are dedicated to Jefferson and will go to Jefferson over our show.

I have supported Jefferson on and off for the past 7 years (since I moved to Iowa) and in no way am trying to go up against that behemoth.

I have found over the past couple of years that all my friends that come to look for the hot rod parts come to the show on Friday.......and I mean - ALL of my friends. It seems that the true hot rodders know that any good deals/rare parts are to be had on Friday. As a result the hot rodders are free on Saturday. So what I propose is that after going to Jefferson and finding that firewall you have been searching for - you head down to Torque Fest and score that '32 grill you were looking for as well. Our swap meet will NOT be a flea market. Tin Butchers always do a great job in rounding up the best car parts dealers for their Scrap Drive and I am sure they will do the same for our show as well.

Jefferson happens 2 times a year and you know exactly what to expect when going there.

Vintage Torque Fest is a totally different kind of show.

There is a reason the word FESTival is in the name.

9 live bands - from around the COUNTRY - not local acts
Art show - with world class artist that will be AUCTIONING off ORIGINAL art
    Model contest
Premiere hot rods and customs that you will not typically see in the midwest
    Motorcycles that are way cool,
Vintage dirt racing on Friday night
    Camping on site
A dirt track that YOU can take your car on Saturday
After party at a REAL drive in showing 2 Lane Blacktop.

all this for $5 for spectators

so....yeah - I can see why people would prefer going to Jefferson over our event........but we hope that people will come to Torque Fest on Sat and hit Jefferson on Friday.

Heck - you could be completely done with Jefferson by 5pm on Friday and hit Torque Fest Friday night.......it is only 150 miles from each other.

I have looked at the crystal ball and have noted that the first weekend in May will be "clear" for the next several years.

When we made the decision to go with this date - we thought Jalopy Showdown or Rust Revival would be the weekend after Mothers day....not thinking that they would fall on the same date. And we REALLY did not want to step on their toes. And Beatersville is the weekend after their show. Then you are into June and everything just gets confusing....

So I assure you that we are not trying to "compete" with Jefferson.....that is a no win proposal.....what we hope is that people will hit both shows since they are so close together.

150 miles for a car guy is nothing right?

I was gonna go to jefferson but I checked in the shop and I don't need any Snomobile,Minibike,4wheeler,late model truck, water heater, washer or dryer, jap truck parts.

I think I'll go to Dork Fest instead

    B:)B

  28. I'd pick Torquefest over Jefferson.

  29. Torquefest!...everything there is interesting, not so much at Jefferson.
