Thank you so much guys, I really do appreciate! X, no drive yet. I am now at that stage where it LOOKS like a complete car, but is not:eek:. Lots of little stuff to wrap up, but simple stuff-wiring, plumb fuel, finish brakes, etc. Not to far though! Dave's YouTube drive videos really makes me wanna drive this thing finally!

Bob, I like these snaps too. I think they will hold way better than regular snaps, & they look pretty cool & mechanical. Your roadster is looking great btw.

Uncle Bob, thanks man. This lessened the stress of just turning 40:eek:. I REALLY had a goal in my head to finish this before that, but it's ok. It's closer than I was 3 years ago haha.

Dirt & Cactus, thanks-both of your projects are always on my watch list. Everybody's projects are always really inspiring to watch come together. Dirt, I like the un-zippable rear window. I think taking it out will allow for some good airflow, especially with the cowl vent open. Lord knows we need a little air movement in Florida in the summer.

Thanks again for the support everybody, means a lot!

Thanks man! I am guilty of it too. The board moves SO fast, it is easy to miss things, I do it all the time too. I am so ready to drive this thing

This continues to be one of my favorite builds, watching it morph from from your original plan. Not much more to finish this baby up!

DANG DAN!!!!! This is absolutely the nicest RPU I've seen!! Excellent job!!!

  7. Wow Dan just wow!! The combination of materials, textures and colors on your RPU are just spot on. I really like the flat black now as it is such a nice contast to the gloss of the chassis, wheels and firewall and the white just makes the whole thing pop. Great job!!

I gotta leave SOMETHING to the imagination.....I'm not that kind of girl:D:D

Keith, thank you bud, that means a lot. It is getting close finally. Really the only cosmetic things left are the front & rear nerfs (still gotta have them chromed), headlights, & tail lights. Oh yeah, & the GRILLE Chris, I didn't forget:p

Chad, thank you a ton man, way too kind! How's you T coming along??n Inquiring minds want to know!

Thank you K! I am really happy that everything seems to be working. I wish that it photographed the same as it looks in person. Kinda tough to capture the contrasts on camera. I really am happy though

    Thank you Paul!

I WAS young a couple of days ago, now not so much:p:p. Thanks Steve!

Thanks man! I am with you on the book, good lord. Good stocking stuffer:)

Well today was a fun day, wrapped up a few small things. Got a 40' ford style steering wheel, it is set up for a splined shaft. In my car, I just have a SS d-shaft with a removable hub & a grant style 3 bolt pattern.

We just drilled the correct 3-bolt pattern thru the hub of the wheel, & bolted up the wheel. Used a mock-up wooden dowel for the column, & played with the length of the column til it looked & felt good. Got it figured out, & it's really comfortable now!

I am going to paint the steering wheel rim, & the center hub Wimbedon white, and leave the horn button & 2 knurled sections black. I think it will tie everything in pretty well. Here's a pic of that: (btw, I decided I am ditching this shifter handle, it's too much:eek:. Gonna get a 12" regular round handle)

Then I got the headlights mounted & tried messing with the fog lights I bought. I like fog lights on some roadsters, so I wanted to give it a try. Made a couple of simple mounts that bolt onto the underside of the headlight mounts, and bolted them on. I like them! I tried just 1 at first, but 2 looked better to me.

I will know better once I get the grill on, but I think they will stay. Here's a few pics, opinions are welcome:

Man, it looks superb Dan. I like the pair of fog lights instead of just one. I like symmetry.

  18. Killer Dan. Every time I see the truck progress I like it more,
I am going to rob the idea of the way you assembled your bed sides with the stainless hardware. Hope ya don't mind:D.

Man I'm finally getting back on the T coupe.... about time I know! I'm working out a trade with a body shop to do all the body work and paint, so progress should be getting going at the first of the year, pending I get my part of the work done!! :D Thanks for asking Dan!

Strange thing with the really good build threads - I am impatient to see how they turn out, and when they get close to completion fear for them to end. Really nice work and thank you for sharing it. I'm jealous of your shop too.
For what it is worth, good call on the gear shifter.

Wow, thank you all for your kind words, I am a little speechless:eek:. Really makes me feel great that others are liking it, I am very humbled, thanks

SPDJNKY, steal away! One thing I really liked about doing the bed this way is that every seam is epoxy primed & painted under, then assembled. Should outlive me for sure. The only downside is polishing 128 button heads:D

Chad, that sounds like a GREAT way to go on the body work & paint! That's the stage I HATE, plus it's a ton of $$$$. Great that you are able to trade your talent for that. Any thoughts to color??

Yeah, the shifter thing has been bugging me. My dad inherited this from me now, hopefully he'll put it to some good use. Sometimes less is more. It didn't look that busy in the ads:eek:. I just hope that I am able to get a Gennie 12" regular lo-stick handle:confused:

Now it just has to warm up a little so I can prime & paint the steering wheel. I am glad the projects are getting smaller:p

  26. Thanks to you Pops can name his next car "The Hand-me-down Hot Rod"...;)

This is the best bit Dan...you're still having fun. When I got nearly finished I think the fun was subsiding and impatience was setting in. I really like your seats BTW
