Torchmen49, I have been in constant communication with Harold Murphy - owner of the original El Matador . To date i can say that chances of the car being there are 90%. He and i are trying to find one other car from the Florida area to be shipped along with his.
    Thanks, Axle

    Just booked my hotel!

This will be my first California Car Show that I have attended. Looks like I picked a good one!

I love early customs the most.

  11. Has anyone heard where Gil Ayalas old T-bird is? I remember someone saying it was in a storage yard somewhere around Norwalk ? I dont have Pat G's new book so I dont know what he says about the car.

In Pat G's book it says Dan Cuellar of Norwalk has the remains of the Ayala T-Bird.It has a sb chevy, one door and the glass is missing and body is in gray primer. It's stored in a lot covered by tarps.

  14. Ya I guess the Ayala T-Bird is just in too bad of shape for the show:mad:. I really wish we had more Ayala car's around. Anyone out there seen a 40 merc chopped with cad rear quarters and full fadeaways lately ??? I know im dreaming out loud again. These guy's just did such killer work and the cars also hauled ass as we can see from the pictures at dragstrips and lakebeds. It is just a shame we dont get to enjoy these cars today.

    Hello everyone,
We have kept this secret for some time now but are extremely excited to finally announce our latest 40's surprise.

The original Pierson Bros. 1936 three window coupe has recently been purchased and is now in great hands.
James from New Jersey has just bought the car out of L.A., contacted Axle about it, then had Jimmy White of Circle City Hot Rods pick it up.
They have brought it to his shop where a complete 60 day make over is taking place.
Since time is of the essence certain area's of the car will not be changed but the over all look and feel will definitely help everyone get the picture of how this car used to look in its heydays!

Jimmy White and his crew will raise the front suspension, install the fender-skirts, ad a set of 1937 Desoto "ribbed" bumpers, fabricate some custom bumper brackets to hold them, install 16 inch solids, hub caps, beauty rings, wide white walls, and if we can find them a complete set – a pair of 112 Appletons.

Again, someone that "gets it" now owns this very historic car and we're proud and honored to have it in the History of the Custom building.
The car has been mentioned in this post a couple of weeks ago, and then it was an unanimous NO, and we were not even tempted to go and look for the car since it has been looking like an "typical" street rod for many years. And it did not at all resemble the once so gorgeous Pierson Brothers – Hot Rod cover – Car.
But now the car once again will looks so wonderful as it did in the late 1940's we are really proud to have this Historical Custom Car in our event.

Eventually this is how the car will look again...

Right now... or at least a couple of weeks ago it looked like this. Not bad... but really sad considered how wonderful it used to look. Almost a shame to modify an historic Custom Car this way. Fortunately for us the all the "modifications" can be undone relatively easy.

The sign that the car was showed with that showed all the fantastic versions of the car with the modern updated one in the middle!

Folks, James is looking for a complete set of 112's.
If anyone out there is willing to let a pair go (and doesn't want a million bucks for it) contact us please. As you can see Its going for a good cause.

    MILESTONE

    And it will be here:

I'm glad the Pierson Bros coupe is being brought back to it's former glory. Now I wish someone would buy Gil Ayalas truck and restore it back to the way it was.
