History Drag cars in motion.......picture thread.

Great stuff Muttley, but I am holding you personally responsible when my computer crashes. Does anyone have the details on this black and white ?

 

Thanks, I just wish I could have been around at that time to see them in action and take the pictures myself.

 

You can see where the police Cuda is quite literally an all steel passenger car gutted to the max. Fremont was like Lions wherein the weirdest of the weird showed up, but no where else.

 

I was all of 13 or 14 when while standing next to this very car in the pits, the crew fired it up. A glob of raw nitro went into my eye. I began to rub my eyes furiously with my shirt while some of the crew laughed saying "Welcome to drag racing kid." Then I heard a female voice amongst their ranks curse at them for being insentive, whereupon she wiped my eyes with a kleenix. As I regained my sight, I found my "nurse" to be one of the same ilk as seen above. In the midst of puberty, I found myself star struck by her beauty.

 

Kinda surprised me when I saw this one this morning. Here's what was sitting on top of the pile on my desk ready to scan for ebay! December 1960
