I am envious of you young guys starting out as early as you did. Although I am not old 31, just picked up my first classic car. When I was 16 my gramps found a 49 chevy 3100 panel wagon restored just needed to be reupholstered for $9k, mom and dad werent having it. Ended up getting into the VW world and blowing 10 of thousands of dollars and lost my shirt on everyone I sold (19 of the them). When I have kids I plan to get them involved from day one with a hot rod peddle car.
    Good luck guys!

Good stuff there youngsters - keep it up.....you have a huge head-start on many of us. I'm in my mid 30's but didn't really start building cars until my late 20's.

  6. 21 here, its great to see some younger fellow chick rodders! got my 1949 chevy 3600 about 2 years ago, wrenched here and there but it didnt really need much, plus i was learning so it was good to have something driveable that i could work on as i learned. i didnt come from a gearhead family per-se, my pops had his fair share of cars back in the day and he always comes out and trys to lend a helping hand but ive got too proud of an ego for that :D anyway, 49 got in a wreck in august that im still dealing with, but here are some pics for now...

rebuild is going to be gmc (its titled as a gmc) because the p/o threw in the gmc grille/fender which was what took the brunt of the impact on the hit so that worked out, i have the gmc tailgate, the buckets are going, im reupholstering the original bench seat, spraying the inside of the cab a fresh coat of black, laying new carpeting, gotta re-set all the glass because the p/o did a shotty job, fix door lock on passenger side (locks but doesnt unlock), lay some wood for the bed, weld up the bedsides, some nice smoothies im pickin up next week, other than that the only thing i could ask for is whitewalls but ya always gotta look forward to something ;)

i would love to build a 29 sedan some day, id love a 49 merc, maybe even something in the 60s like a biscayne or 61 bel air...
this is my ex's 61 we worked on, i fell in love with the car, he sold it to fund his sport bike love...jackass.

and for those of you hatin on the older hambers, yeah maybe they're twistin your nipples a bit but man up and let it roll off your shoulders, im sure theyve had their fair share of hazing, plus, if you shut your mouth and open your ears you can learn a hell of a lot from these guys.

  23. Hey guys, I'm 16.

    I don't anything really H.A.M.B related but I do a 1957 Peugeot 403 I'm restoring/modifying.

I live in a country area and I've never really had a Dad or any mechanically inclined family so unfortunately (although, that's debatable :D ) I spend a lot more time and money building up my shed and collection of tools than on cars.

I'm really into the Gow Job style of hot rods, I'd really like to build one, bodies are so hard to come across though. :(

One of my projects is piecing together a 1910s speedster style vehicle out of parts on the farm. I've got a half decent chassis (home made) and some of the suspension, just got to do everything else! If anyone cares, I'l post a build thread as it starts to progress further.

Here's my Peugeot, she's got a mighty 1.5 litre hemi engine with a huge 62HP, I'l be making some extractors once I get a tubing bender, I've got a twin carb manifold I'm yet to fit too. I'm on the hunt for a tiny super charger, I've found a set of "high compression" (a whopping 8:1) pistons too.

    Thanks for looking

    "if your younger than 20"
Or older than 20, please learn the difference between "your" "you're" and even "yore"..
The use in this thread's title should be "you're," the contraction of "you" and "are".
    "Your" is a posessive adjective.

For instance "You're (you are) going to drive your car today." would be a correct use of both of them together.

This has been a public service announcement,
and yes, it is important because any "civilians" reading the stuff here will think all of us are just a bunch of illiterate slobs, (some are, I guess)
and homophobic at that with all the "that's gay" crap thrown around all the time.

well im close, i just turned 22. I have a way off topic car, then a kinda close but no cigar car, and then may have another truck this weekend if it goes good. The off topic car is a buick grand national that ive been hooked on since i was a little kid.

the other car is a 68 falcon that will be a traditional bebop around car. heres a picture of it and the motor that i just finished droppiong in.

and then the truck is a 66 f100. Ive been working on stuff since I was 14 with a buddy of mine, then i joined the Marine Corps and went on to do other things, but when ever im not at work im in my garage working on something or helping my buddies out with there cars.

I'm 15 and have a 76 GMC Short bed Step side that'll be my daily driver and shop truck. I lowered it 3 in the front, 4 in the rear. Its a 350 3 speed on the column with dual exhaust and a Holley 4 bbl.

  30. Oh man! This thing is just too sweet!

Good for you young folks for keeping it all alive! My guess is you're going to have to stand up to the politicians in the not-too-distant future who will try to outlaw our passion. Spread the gospel, we're going to need numbers and you younger generation people will hold the key.

Now, get back out to the garage and create some more cool stuff!

BTW, I want to mention that us older folks are proud of what you're doing! Keep it up!
