I put together this slide show for the Fire Party and I thought you guys would get a kick out of it!!

A few weeks ago I was going through some images at the shop when I came across a sheet of film negs.. I noticed one of the shots has a burnt up car in it a closer look and it was the Jag on a trailer... So I took the number on the sheet and went back to the files and looked at the few sheets before and a few after and sure enough there they were.. A bunch of never published images of that horrible day. It felt pretty neat to find these..

The first few minutes are fire shots the rest are just random shots at the lynwood shop...

And feel free to visit barriskustomcity.com we have good stuff for sale :D I have no shame.

I'm ***uming part of the reason for all of the pictures of the fire damage was for insurance purposes? It must have been totally heartbreaking for George to shoot those.

Also, is that a wrecked Ferrari Barchetta at 4:29? Ouch!

    Thanks for sharing these.

  5. Whatever happened to the chopped and sectioned Merc?

George did not have fire insurance at the time.. All the client cars were lost.. I asked him
what did his customers think.. he said overall everyone was upset but they knew it wasn't
any fault of of George.. One customer did take legal action and tried to sue George but the judge ruled the case dismissed due to act of god.

Thanks for putting this together. I was 14 when this happened, my brother and I went by the shop a few days after the fire, it was unbelievable to see all the Kustoms that were lost! A sad day for sure.

Excellent photos, although a little hard to look at the great cars that were lost. What was the cause of the fire?

I remember reading in a book that after they did the section the car disappeared. Would have been nice to see it done. It makes you wonder if it is sitting in someones garage waiting to be finished someday.

Fantastic piece of history, a real treasure trove! Love Sam's desk (guess it's his desk). Can you imagine, no insurance!!!

But that was the times. Nobody had health insurance in those days, are you kidding? You had to really be in a bad way to see a doctor, and when you needed one, a lot of them still came to your house!! And you just paid the (extremely reasonable) bill.

    Great stuff.
