Thanks JB for including my car. I desperately want it in glossy paint but I need to finish the wing windows and a few other details before I can. Soon! Here are a couple of recent photos in front of the old Barris Lynwood shop.
Oh boy, Kevan. Your -40 looks so great. You are way ahead of me with the details now. Been too busy with work and also getting my roadster out. Hope to start up the work on mine real soon again. Took out the engine last winter and hope to get it running again this coming summer. Here's a pic from last falls Hop Up'ers swap meet on a trip with my friends. Andreas' Litton-style 1950 shoebox and Wolf's -51 Merc.
Thanks man,I have an idea for a final color but not narrowed down to the exact one yet.It will be close to what it is now, just a little deeper red but not too much darker,I dont want it to be confused with a burgundy in anyway( No offense guys). I dont know when that will come though,I just spent a shitload of money redoing my whole engine compartment and drivetrain. To be honest I really dont feel like saving and spending all of the thousands it would be to paint my car and then to take it all apart and most painters around here are not that quick to finish. So I know I will have to paint it someday, the paint that is on their now was only meant to be temporary but it seem to catch on pretty good so I just left it. At least for now I just want to crush pavement in it,the sled has been down over a year and the road to getting it back has been tough and I really dont feel like having the car down again.
TheFrenz ... You said you probably werent cool enough?? That is too funny man and so far from the truth.I am bigtime into that name and its belief's.I remember you mentioned it on a Pm but I didnt know how to join up.You have to remember I am stone age up in here,I dont even know how to post a picture!!!!
Wow, Tom- thanks for the mention! I have been undoing things on my shoebox both body and suspension-wise to bring the car back to circa 1953-54. I take the mention of it here as a great compliment! Rob
Here's a couple of my favorites right now. I think Dave Yorks has a few parts later than 52 but I wouldn't kick it out of my garage!
Wow! Kevan your '40 Mercury is Kickin' and Firen'!!! Great thread Kent. An era of Customs I love and hope to get my '40 in the late 40's look, someday............ Ken
Some of my favorite cars here!! We are beginning the chop and lowering of my 1948 Chevy Coupe this week, I´ve set 1953 as the latest year for the build and will stay as true as possible to that era. Can anyone tell me what colors was popular?
Yours doesn't look bad either cleatus ! Long time no hear Lloyd ! I also wanted to post a pic of your Ford. You beat me to it.Hope all is well buddy ! Excellent choice. My man Rusk's Chevy Coupe. He has made MUCH more progress since this pic was taken. The most important thing is already there and that's what makes a car and also what a car makes standout from the rest...STANCE. I know the hubcaps don't fit the '48-'52 period but maybe this post makes him reconsider.
Dam!!! my car cant be part of the elite!!! have bags all around. thats the only modern thing done to it. all the body mods are pre 53. thats what i was going for too. it will take to much time and money to put it back how it was.
Brother Jack...please have mercy on me but I gotta inlude these two '54's.What a car ! And to get back to topic...
Front is a lil too high right now,Come GNRS time the front will be down just a LITTLE BIT like it was before the goodyears.
