Hey Mike, it is a stroker windsor with CNC ported Victor 15 degree Heads, Glidden Victor intake, single quad dominator and a wild cam made by Bullet. C4 from Mikes transmisssions, a munsinger converter and a 4.57 leaf spring Calvert rear. Car weights a lil over 3400 with driver (i weigh 160 with gear) and I have done a LOT of carb work on my own--that is where i really started gaining HP. i shift at 8200, that motor is amazingly bulletproof. runs 9.50's in the 1/4 and 5.90's in the 1/8. My whole goal is to hurt the feelings of your typical mullet-wearing loud mouth big tire lead-sled Chevy dork who thinks his shiny wheels and snorkel hoodscoop equate to speed. Here is a somewhat outdated website.

    thanks for the interest brother. . . . . .

There are a ton of these drag comets with the front ends lifted pretty high! I think they make awesome looking drag cars, and I am digging the big tub on some of these!

8200??? Wow! I put a connecting rod through the side of a 289 block at a lot lower rpms. Of course that was many years ago. The technology advances are amazing.

    Ernie,
Double Wow on the 8200 upshifts!!! I like the Fairlanes and have a '67 myself. Anytime you can shut down a Chevy is good with me.

Is your crank internally balanced? I spun the rear main in a 289 I shifted at 8500, and suspect it was because of the external balance in the flywheel (4 speed car). Have you done anything out of the ordinary to make it live? What rods do you use? I want to put it back together just the way it was except for what I need to do to save the rear main. I drilled the oil galley out to 1/2" so I don't think it was oil delivery.

    Neat car!

Double wow. I thought my little 308 over 7,000 rpms was nuts. Of course I did split that block in two.

I shift my stroker 289[352"],4-speed at 7200 and go out the back at 7800-8000.The rotating assembly is externally balanced, never had any bearing issues in 14 seasons. The biggest issue I had was caving in cylinder walls on the outside bottom of the cylinder, solved that with "Hardblok". That is a good looking 64,the only issue I have is he didn't center the front wheels in the wells when they did the axle. JMO,ROY.

Not to derail the topic here....but I love Mercurys and brunettes. One brunette always comes to mind, Jill Wagner. She was the Mercury spokesmodel before Mercury folded. I ran across a pic of Jill and a 65 Comet today. Some of you might know Jill from the TV show Wipeout now.

    Looks great!

Do you also have a Falcon with a 428? If so, I'd like to see that one too.

Being that I am a person of compation in these trying times I'm going to have to kick my old worn out Tire wiper (Fast Eddie) to the curb and hire Miss Mercury Jill . My Drag racing might go to hell though.

Regarding the Comet in post # 2243--there IS one there. What are the things on the hood(besides Jill)? They look like the scoops? humps? off a '67 fairlane GT hood! Look closely and you can see them. She IS distracting!! Syl

  24. I need her to sit on my Cyclone hood!
