Andy DeVine was one of the true good guys in show business. He
was married to his one wife from 1933 to his death in 1977, which
says a lot. Though he loved comedy roles (famously with Guy
Madison in TV's "Wild Bill Hickock), he could shift at the drop
of a hat to serious roles, like his contemporary, Walter Brennan.

Pluck your magic twanger, Mister Froggie, or there'll
be NO CRACKER for you! Unlike "Howdy Doody," Andy's
show was off-the-wall nonsense -- sort of like "The Tonight
Show" but just for kids! Photo is THANKS to ioffer!

A youngst'a watching "Andy's Gang" on TV, THANKS to virginmedia!
Anybody explain that gizmo on the side of the TV????

That's the "quarter meter plan" to pay for the TV. No pay, no TV.

Great shot of Gable. I'm not a cycle guy, so what's the bike?
This looks like about '58? Though he wasn't a racer, he loved
outdoor sports and things with WHEELS!

Once upon a time in a far off Asian land a Scout helicopter pilot kept returning from solo flights with inoperative radios. Upon checking them they would work. Puzzled after several times I asked what he was doing. He swore me to secrecy and took me with him. After a short flight to a place we weren't supposed to be he sat down on a sandbar in a river and pulled his trusty Pocket Fisherman out of his helmet bag and comenced to fish. Water lapping into belly of aircraft would kill radio and after drying they would work. Mystery solved. It was however a very paranoid time for me sitting there with him until we departed. PS and he didn't catch anything.

  28. Awesome picture of Standard Oil Products, I especially like the Headlight Oil and the Fireproof Oil. As a retired employee of Chevron, El Segundo I really enjoyed seeing some of the product that are no longer made.

Rootie, interesting shot. That appears to be a Wayne Chevy. Your image refers to Bayless Leverett. The Harms data shows Gordon Reid in this car in '51. Can you shed some light.

    Thanks, Mike.
