Falcons are close cousins. Still in the right family.

Thanks man, its a fully counterweighted Velasco crank that is internally balanced and is a beautiful piece of work. It is ten years old and never been turned. Rods are 6.250 Carrillos. Has Ross pistons and 16.25 compression--those heads have tiny combustion chambers--around 40cc's. IMO you ALWAYS have to internally balance a SBF. Block is a 9.50" SVO, valves are 2.18 and 1.6 titaniums, T & D shaft assemblies for rockers. there are no tricks to this motor but other than a few troublemaker girlfriends who were dragged unwillingly to the track (and promptly left for other guys), i have never had a hot chick come up to me and offer me a good time because of this big plain unsexy sauterne gold thing--its always middle aged men who "get it." If this car was a man his name would be "Edgar."

Yes I do, but its not together right now, body is on the Rotisserie as we speak, I had a rollcage put in, now Im doing the tub work and floors. I have a 428scj ready to drop in, its sittin in the bedroom right now waiting on the rest of the car, but have been thinking of saving it for another project and building a twin turbo FE 427 s.o. and a stick to run in the UMTR. 427 will probably be an Pond aluminum block, maybe his new wedge heads and whatever I figure out on turbos and induction (EFI). Never messed with turbos before but they have intrigued me the last few years, so what the heck.

Steve and his dad are indeed great guys. We spent some time with them, got to know them. But when it comes time to race, its all business!! Glad they won the show as well. Steve got a GREAT trophy to hang up as well!!!

Yes it is the one Robert Pond built, I was looking for a '64 or'65 to build an AFX clone, having no real luck finding one reasonably solid, came across his on E-bay, didnt want to spend that much on one. Just couldnt get it outta my mind, Its in original paint in those pics, shes the absolute most solid Comet I have seen, plus all of the goodies Robert put into it.
It runs really good, has great street manners for a 600+hp/600 ft.lb. and runs on 93 octane. I took it to the track 2 times this year ran 11.42 at 121 mph. Thats with 9" tires. 3:70 gears, and shifting on the column, and little more than stock convertor. Theres still more potential there, this winter I want to try and bushing the shift linkage, or whatever else I can do to get the shifter tighter. I dont want to go to a floor shifter, so see what I can do to improve whats there.

Well after she found out how much i had in it she completely understood why its wasnt going to stay out in the barn where moisture (condensation and humidity) play havoc on an engine. My wife is a very understanding person, it helps she likes the old cars, unfortunetly not Fords, we are looking for a '71 to '72 Chevelle now for her, something solid and ready to drive, I have too many projects started now, and dont want to start another , or make her wait to enjoy her own Hotrod.

I'm getting ready to paint my clone A/FX '64 Comet. Should the dash and interior trim be gloss or semi-gloss Red? Thanks. Sylvanus

We went with a satin semi gloss / flat paint. Used the code off of the paint chip chart for 1964 ford colors (interior code).

Most 64-65 Comets that I see have a semi-gloss interior paint, that is what mine came with 44 years ago. When I had mine redone I took the glove box door to the paint shop to use for a paint match after taking the trim off[original un-bleached color match]. ROY.

Ken;we would need to find a BIG shop to stash all our junk!!!! I was involved in a shop but the guy got into motorcycles and now you can't even find his 65 Comet!!!! It is raining today[expected next 6 days too],and around 60 degrees!! Believe it or not,I'm out in the garage working on the WAGON!! The guy with the ball cap on in post#2281 looks like the guy hanging out in Vegas shooting photos of my Comet!!!ROY.
