Not as far as I was concerned. I saw him run at Weedsport many times and he was always strong!!!

  7. Great video, thanks for sharing newguy. Welcome BTW.

BTW, under-rated means, not given the credit he was due as a good shoe. Richie was giving him, kudos.

  13. I think you're both saying the same thing, but using different terms to get there.

I ran against Gary a few times. He was good, especially when he was lapping me!!!

JBull, Satch is still doing some racing. He is driving in a dirt open wheel club at various Virginia dirt tracks. Even though it is a "Club", he can still wheel a car.

Thank you. I realize Gary was under rated, more by fans than drivers. I could have worded that better.

I will have some pics, but I need to rescan all of them. I lost the cd with all the original scans. Great thread btw!!!!

That's Gary Winters going underneath Billy Blum (I think). This 380 coupe had the 427 FE Ford engines.

That's definitely Gary Winter's 380 coupe, although it looks like it was renumbered temporarily for the Langhorne race. Stock Car Racing magazine did a big feature story on that car when it was built. It was a beauty.......www.weissglassspeedway.com

Actually the "0" is covered over with the water based color Langhorne always used since the cars could only have 2 numbers for scoring. I can tell the car even though it is blurred because I was pretty familiar with it's appearance. This was the first car Gary ran after he and Palmer Schade split up, his partners were named Tom and Dick and their cars were as well funded and prepared as any car on the east coast.

That being said, my eyes are perty' lousy and my ears ring like crazy from noise damage. Modifieds from the '60's I can remember like nothing but, as my wife well knows, stuff from as recent as 5 minutes ago is soon forgotten.
