Hey Fellas, well I have been a member for a long time on here and lurk about 10 times a day, but I don't get to posting much, but after a couple brews tonight I have decided to start a thread on this thing. I don't like to brag about the shit that I drag home, but this one has me wanting more. I randomly checked the ol local craigslist last sunday night, and to my suprise I found this really bad pic of what looked to be a project 33/34 3-window. Figuring this and the asking price was either a scam, or a fiberglass car, there was no way something like this would be around here-plus it was 4 days after the ad was posted.
Anyway, the next morning I called the guy, and he said it was all original, and that he still had it. "Its a piece of shit and gonna take a hell of a lot of work and money to get her back on the road" were his words. He said I was about the 6th person to look at the thing, and everyone else agreed with him on its condition-too much work. For myself, I have built all of my previous cars from something in a lot worse conditon than this car is, so a deal was struck for a price that was beyond imaginable. He had no idea about the history except for that it had a hemi and was an old drag car from either the Nor Cal area or Reno. I have some good friends that have been longtime hot rodders from around since the mid 40's, and they have never seen the car, thus making me believe that it came from somewhere else other than Reno. Anyway, there are some distinctive custom mods like the original heavily chopped grille shell, leaded and filled top, recessed firewall, bobbed front and rear fenders, deep angle channel, Z'd frame, and rear frenched license plate cover, and modified cowl area. All of the body work is done very well, and everything is done in lead by someone who knew what they were doing. No it is not for sale, I just wanna know some history!!!!! Let me know of any info, pics, or anything you may know. Thanks guys:)

Thanks for the great compliments guys! Dale, good catching up with you again tonight ya damn Peckerhead!! I wish I did have some pics before the paint was stripped, but this is just the way I bought it. The guy worked his ass off with 5 gallons of aircraft paint stripper, for they slapped and covered the car completly in bondo to "smooth" it out way back when (probabily the 70's) for some unknown reason-the car is completly straight as it is. He had no pictures, leftover bondo pieces with paint color, etc, or anything. His memory was a little blurred about pretty much the entire history, so it is now up to me to trace it...

They have found 3 or 4 early 33 Fords with the front fenders skirtless. If these haven't been modified could have been one.

I guess when Henry changed over a few things were done to the early cars to get them on the way to far away places. I know they have found one in Idaho and a couple more on the west coast.

Anyhow............... just some info that's not in the Ford archives.

This is a skirtless 33 from the Christmas Tree Chop in Ojai back in the early eighties. Looks like yours may just be modified. Nice find.

Great find!!! Hopefully someone will recognize the front fender/grille, firewall and tailpan treatment and offer up some history. Any paint color overspray in the jambs, etc?

Very nice! The christmas present we all dream of. I found my '33 about 21 years ago and am still enjoying every minute of it. I'd love to see more pics when you can.

  27. He wont leave those body mods in place. The thing probably won't even have fenders knowing him. Not only did he score a great body style he got it for a jaw dropping price. I won't say and he probably won't either. Just believe me it was a steal.

Yeah I guess the hot rod gods were looking out for me that day. I don't have good luck by any measure, so I'm stoked and suprised it happened. I have some great ideas for the car, but it is a ways down on the list for the future...
I did find some gloss black paint on the lower rockers, so possibly the car was last painted black. I dunno, I hope someone will run across something on this car's past to see what it was really like or who owned it over the years.
