Yes-Andy got around! Father knew best. Andy played the field.
According to TV Guide Andy had several girlfriends over the years: Ellie Walker,Eleanor Dohnhue,the one in the pic, the new lady druggist; Mary Simpson, the county nurse;
Peggy McMillan, the rich girl that Barney forbid Andy
to see; and Helen Crump,Aneta, Opie's school teacher. Helen
and Andy got married at the end of the series.

I was wondering about the ZL-1 on the hood, don't think I've ever noticed that before. The ZL-1 I'm familiar with wasn't around when this car was built.

 

Didn't Elanor Donahue play the big sister in one of the 50's family comedy show's, maybe The Life Of Riley?

 

She was Betty Anderson the oldest daughter in "Father Knows Best". After it canceled she was on The Andy Griffith Show, I think for only one year probably '60 or '61.

 

Does anyone know what ever happened to Andy's TV wife? Was there ever any mention of her absence on the show?
It was just Andy, Opie and Aunt Bea.....but Opie's Mom was never talked about.

were canned meat and beans, meat-and-vegetable stew

Sometimes, "cookies" whomped up creamed dried beef,
served on a slice of bread. Soldiers quickly dubbed
the dish "Sh-- on a shingle"! LOL

One joke went that a GI returned to his foxhole, tell-
ing a buddy the cook at the mess truck had come up
with a new recipe. Excited, the other dogface asked
what it was. The first GI replied that cookie had sliced
the Spam LENGTHwise for a change!

 

Sheriff Andy Taylor was a widower. But it was a comedy, so that detail didn't get repeated often.

 

Didn't Andy also court a gal named "Thelma Lou," too?

 

No, Thelma Lou was Barney's girlfriend. In the early episodes, he has a girlfriend named Juanita who works at the diner. He talks to her on the phone, but I don't believe she was ever seen on screen.

The issue of Andy's wife was addressed in an early episode, maybe the first. Aunt Bea comes to stay with them at Andy's request and runs into resentment from Opie who feels she can't take the place of his mother. It all gets resolved in the end and the series was up and running with characters in place.

 

I was a cook in the Army and from what I understand, the guys in my Company wanted to put me up for some kind of award to show their appreciation. You see, whenever they came through the chow line, before dishing out a scoop of dessert, I would always ASK - do you want your dessert on your meat or your potatoes.

 

I got along well with our cooks, in my down time (If we were in rear Esh) I would wander down and help out in the mess. I guess it didn't hurt that the cooks were all the ONLY women for miles................

They were good, you know......well respected, so much so that they got the nick name 'Fitters and Turners'...................

In keeping with the name, the streamlining, pointed snout, and other detailing was partly inspired by the sleek, fast-moving shortfin mako shark. The '61 Corvette tail was given two additional tail lights (six total) for the concept car. The concept inspired the 1963 Corvette Sting-Ray."

Mako Shark 2 looks more like the 68/72 style which it inspired.There sometimes refered to as Mako Sharks.

ZL-1 like Z-28,C60,J56 etc are RPO codes.They sometimes were used in different reference to a particuliar option depending on the year of usage.The alum 427 engine option of 69 used the code ZL-1 but this usage was probably unrelated to that engine.
