Why don't the majority of the hot rod Model A frames have cross members like the majority of the Deuce frames?

Is it a space issue within the confines of the perimeter rails?

The A frames look much much too weak for even the most moderate V-8 horsepower?

Or were you looking for earlier build shots?

Or maybe just a plane frame?

  8. I'm building a '29 Roadster pickup using '31 chevy rails and a '36 ford x-member.

This is what I started with, an old altered so cracked up the No Hot Rods Anymore told me not to bring that "old P.O.S. back to the track"! Cutout the cage, and gave it to "wingnuts" here on the HAMB.

Here is where I am now, about to start looking for more cracks, I found six in the roll cage when I cut it out!, adding crossmembers, and a "bedstead" style roll bar. Have a 454 and 350 turbo mounted.
I have learned a TON of things from my sprint car friends about how to do things right.

Keep this thread going! I love seeing all the pictures. It's giving me ideas for my Henry J build!
What's everybody using for frame paint?

No idea what a "Woodill Wildfire" is but this is the coolist ever! Any more pics? I assume it's an early fifties style roadster like the Popular Mechanics homebuilts after the war.

    Is there a build thread?

  14. Here's mine for my A Roadster with fenders. Nothing show worthy but a super solid chassis. And it sits just about right.
